Guest CS Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 On which days do you bath your pigeons? The general feeling is that most fanciers give them a bath on the Sunday after the race or Training flight. But there are a few that bath them just before a race, even basketing day. And seconly, what additives do you add to the bath?
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 ANY TIME THEY WANT AND PUT SOME POTASSIUM PERMANGENATE CRYSTALS IN
THE FIFER Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 garlic water, and sometimes ordinary house vinegar
jimmy white Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 in good weather liked to give w,hood cocks a bath friday morning , found they rested better in the loft during the day ,nothing usualy added but have used condies crystals
Guest CS Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 Is there any specific reason for bathing them close to or on basketing day?
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 Every sunday and somtimes a week day if they want it put in pottassium (condise crystals)
Guest speckled Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 ;D water plain water, sunday & mid week like thay say ya can lead a horse to water but weather it will drink it is another factor same as pigeons thay will i find only bathe when thay wont, but it like most it what ya give them as part of the weekly routine. think jimmy means bathing in the loft on friday i would personally not do that unless the weathers is garantued to be warm, as it take while for the feathers to dry. nothing like a damp cock on basketing spend most time pruning his feathers insead of resting lol all that handling but then peopel have there own methords that work for them. Y/b thay can bathe each day if thay like but once of the drakness thay are on routine. just the way i do things me lol Speck ;D ;D jimmy no comment on that please lol ;D ;D ;D out the gutter lol ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Usually Sunday as part of weekly routine, but if I see them bathing at drinker I'll put a bath down for them. Usually add water from garlic leave-over that's been sitting a week.
Guest Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Is there any specific reason for bathing them close to or on basketing day? LOT OF PEOPLE BELEIVE IT BRINGS OUT THE BLOOM ON THEM ;D ;D
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 How much pottassium do you use ? i just use about half a dozen crystals in each bath
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 if possible give the hens that are paired to the cocks a bath on saturday before the cocks return it relaxes them a they are then ready for their mates a bit like humans really if you know what i mean
Chatrace Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I like to add 3 tea bags to the Bath water the day before basketing if no rain is called for
Guest Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 when do pigeons actually get clean water without anything being in it its in the drinker now its in the bath water no wonder they drink out the gutters ;D ;D :-/ :-/
Guest CS Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I like to add 3 tea bags to the Bath water the day before basketing if no rain is called for Why tea bags? :-/
Chatrace Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Why tea bags? :-/ Tea, whether black or green, caffeinated or decaffeinated (herbal teas don't count), has spectacular antioxidant capabilities owing to large amounts of substances called flavonoids. In addition to preventing oxidation, flavonoids may have an anticlotting effect.
jimmy white Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Is there any specific reason for bathing them close to or on basketing day? on good days i would let my w,hood cocks out [probably a bit unorthodox ] just put that big word in for speck ;D ;D ;D,,,,no but my cocks were out every morning at 6 am if i didnt do this on a friday,as well ,found they were restless all day ,, a fly a bath and they settled all day [[saw this with my wee camera in the loft ;D],, rest goes with excercise and excercise goes with rest , or without proper excercise you dont get proper rest,,,only my opinion

Chatrace Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 most birds will take a drink when bathing and it also helps the skin. If ya want to drink it I recomend adding a bit of sugar :
