wings Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Hi I have a pigeon in my stock loft that over the last week has developed watery eyes, in the last day they seem to have got worse the skin round the eyes had become red it looks like he is scratching them, he also seems to be trying to swallow or gag none of the other birdsa in the stock loft seem to be affected by this. I was wondering what i should do next, has anbody got any advice please as to steer me in the right direction. VMT

Guest chrisss Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 no it is very infectous [from what i have read] it is better to play safe and lose two eggs than screw up a years work [at least right or wrong thats what i would do]
Guest shadow Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 you do not want a bird with a respiratory infection feeding young remove him until cured and check your ventilation as it will need to be good when the young hatch out and you have more birds in the section
wings Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 From what i'am reading i feel it is probably better to get rid of all the eggs and try to cure the infected bird and also treat the others,
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Ventilation problem, I have had 2 birds with chronic eye problems put them in outdoor flypen and immeaditly cured problem !!!! Agree Tylan will cure
Lennut Tar Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 From what i'am reading i feel it is probably better to get rid of all the eggs and try to cure the infected bird and also treat the others, My first thought was !!!!!! you were wrong in your assumption etc above. But on second thoughts I think you are correct, when you really think about it. "But then" I have been known to be wrong ;) at times ;D ;D ;D catch 22 situation, & I suppose, as long as he treats the infected bird/birds, in the end. Hopefully, it will all turn out ok. Enjoy
