i think their taking the pizz!! lol....soz couldnt resist that!.

they must be lacking in a vitamin i would say...its un natural for birds to do this although mine have done some strange things in the past.

i would stop them drinking the urine imediately,as it contains  toxins.that have been expelled by the dogs body.

Sends like they not getting any IRON as urine contains iron.

Haven't a clue why the birds should be doing this but don't like the sound of it. I'd be chasing the birds away from the pen and I'd also make it a no-go area for them. Also when you keep more than one type of animal on the same location I think your hygiene needs to be at a high level to stop possible cross-infection. I'd try to keep both dog and pigeon areas seperate as far as possible.

I know that when my daughter visits with her dog I make sure there is no trace of it left in the garden before I let my birds out. If I were you I think I'd slop out the dog pen with a strong disinfectant before I let my birds out. Virkon and Stalosan are designed for all animal housing use, but I think a household bleach or Jeyes fluid would do much the same job.

i use jeyes fluid every other day and milton sterilizing fluid the rest of the time but i shall cover over the pen to stop the birds getting to it

I have iron tablets i could crush them and put them in a pick pot see if that works any1 else use iron tablets
