Guest milkyal Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Sends like they not getting any IRON as urine contains iron.
Guest IB Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Haven't a clue why the birds should be doing this but don't like the sound of it. I'd be chasing the birds away from the pen and I'd also make it a no-go area for them. Also when you keep more than one type of animal on the same location I think your hygiene needs to be at a high level to stop possible cross-infection. I'd try to keep both dog and pigeon areas seperate as far as possible. I know that when my daughter visits with her dog I make sure there is no trace of it left in the garden before I let my birds out. If I were you I think I'd slop out the dog pen with a strong disinfectant before I let my birds out. Virkon and Stalosan are designed for all animal housing use, but I think a household bleach or Jeyes fluid would do much the same job.
jimmy_84 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 i use jeyes fluid every other day and milton sterilizing fluid the rest of the time but i shall cover over the pen to stop the birds getting to it I have iron tablets i could crush them and put them in a pick pot see if that works any1 else use iron tablets
tom corrie Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 TRY BUYING A LICK-STONE FOR CATTLE SHOULD SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM ALSO STOP THE BIRDS FROM ENTERING THE DOG PEN AS THE ARE IN THE HABIT OF DRINKING THE DOGS URINE
jimmy_84 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 am going to cover the pen over with a garden net
