Guest Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Agree with Blue Chequer Pied. You can also get liquid calcium to put in the drinker, but make sure you dilute it correctly!
Guest cloudview Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 josh, put your normal grit in the nest box , hen will get what she wants without cock giving her stick , some cocks will not give hen a seconds peace , result she gets no grit
pigeonscout Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 if the birds goes to the gully pot and there is oyster shell or grit and it eats it that's fine, but i have known birds to eat and die from eating poisonous plants, so they can chose them self with out us adding to the conundrum, the answer to your question a dont know You are adding calcium to the birds diet by putting it in the gully pots. But like it has been said on this tread it can be put into the water or over the feed.
Lennut Tar Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Im wanting to give a few hens some extra calcium as a few eggs havent been up to scratch. They have access to grit all the time, but im not happy with a few eggs. Im thinking of trying a bit of milk in the drinking water. How much to 2 litres of water? Thanks Interesting post etc, Now !!!!!!!!, I'm not big ;) on giving them too many goodies (I'm a tight a*se / pensioner) etc. But I go out of my way, when I'm in the breeding mode here. to give them milk powder & baby formula every 2nd day, it's good stuff ??????????? at least I think so. Enjoy.
