Guest IB Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 True mate, collie's can react real bad. Usually anything with Permethrin in will do the job. Agree, permethrin is the recognised preferred insecticide, proved safe for pigeons. Frontline (fipronil) for dogs can be lethal to dogs given in wrong dose, that's why its packaged by weight, and the shop will ask you the dog's breed, age & weight (best to have the dog with you). Ivermectin also has warnings about collies? so risky with all dogs. Garlic has not been mentioned here (yet ) , allicin is an insecticide, I have seen a garlic insecticide spray in the same petshop that stocks Frontline, mine get frsh garlic crushed into their drinker over the weekend (started last weekend) and in their sunday bath, so should combat internal & external parasites - safely.
Guest stb Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 use benzole benzonate. feather rot a type of mange same as dogs get. parasite lives in feather folicle and kills quill feather then dies and breaks of leaving a bit of stubble. Benzonate will sort it but feathers wont grow back till done a body moult. you could pull the brocken bits out and they will regrow but not worth the hasle
Guest strapper Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 as i stated chlorcarb in a bucket of water ....£5.95 and your birds will be free of lice for over a 12month...this is a well respected treatment..and you can pass it round your m8s and it will keep on working.....9 out of 10 pigeons owners said their birds preferred it! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
