Hi

I have a stock bird with yellow spots around the tonsils otherwise the bird is in good condition, my diagnosis is 'wet canker' or ‘respiratory infection’.  If anyone else has any opinions on this I would be very grateful to hear them and would like to know what would be the best product to buy for this condition.

Thanks

Thanks for your comments perhaps I should have mentioned that this is a new bird brought in.

There are yellow spots in the soft palate usually microscopic pockets of inflammation which appears with an active disease often associated with wet canker or respiratory infection.

Large yellow nodules is Trichomonad nodules which is dry canker so that is the two comparisons ~  that’s why I think it is wet canker or respiratory infection.  Hope I have explained myself clearly.

Well done , Lenny , its the first tmie i have seen the proper definition of tricho ( wet & dry )

If the bird was mine & i had no access to a vet , i would treat for tricho first .

I think you need at least one other symptom to confirm if this is current or past infection, and that is inflammation. If the area is angry red & swollen, then that is a sign of inflammation and shows you have a current infection. If the area is normal & pinkish, then these spots are signs of past infection. Yellow is universal colour of pigeon pus [dead cells produced during fighting infection] and that infection could have been caused by anything.

I would return the bird to the vendor as it will not breed you anything and treat the rest of your team with Trichocure . :(
