Guest youngzimmy Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SUBJECT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT RACING PIGEONS AND EVEN IF WE WERE DRAWING THE OUTLANDISH COMPARISONS YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE YOU ARE STILL WRONG
Guest youngzimmy Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 what do you feed. how much. and when . ???????? THAT IS THE SECRET YOU AND MANY MORE OF US HAVE TO CRACK MASTER THAT AND YOU HAVE MASTERED PIGEON RACING
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 You will not master racing pigeons on feed alone !!! and any one who thinks they have mastered racing pigeons will only go backwards. There is allways some thing new to learn with pigeons every day !!!
tiger Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 You will not master racing pigeons on feed alone !!! and any one who thinks they have mastered racing pigeons will only go backwards. There is allways some thing new to learn with pigeons every day !!! ur quiet right but it is one of the main things in all top lofts
Guest triballofts Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 get away from the idea of van this van that van the other go to a fancier who has good honest winning pigeons his are the birds you want and if you are realy lucky he may even tell you how to work them for best results its not rocket science you know i totaly agree with you on that but the trouble is most people want pedigrees (and at the end of the day its only paper ) as good winning pigeons with no paper sell for sod all and pigeons breed out of this and that but never won fetch more money daft in it i know which one i would buy
Guest youngzimmy Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 I BOUGHY A BIRD FROM A GUY HE WENT INTO HIS HOUSE AND GOT THE PEDIGREE FOR IT HELD IT IN HIS HAND IT FLUTTERED TO THE TO THE DOORSTEP AND THAT IS AS FAR AS IT EVER FLEW
Guest Owen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 It's a funny Old World. People on here are talking good common sense. Yet if you read the paper you will see loads of pigeons for sale that have not flown a yard. Yes, they are out of this and that and the other thing. And they are related to goodness knows what, at least according to those things that no-one appears to value. Pedigrees. So who buys them then? And if people have bought birds like them before and failed to breed anything any good, why are they buying more? I am also curious about the people who have these birds for sale. They must have pots of money to be able to afford to keep all these birds and not fly them. I assume that they don't fly them because if they did the birds would have won prizes, would'nt they? On reflection, I think I might sell a couple of hundred pigeons, it would be a great help with the pension. I hope some of you will help me out by buying some of them. I'll give you a grand pedigree. I promise. As I say, it's a funny Old World.
biglad Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 a pedigree is only as good and honest as the man that writes them ;)
Guest bakes Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 at the end of the day pedigree is a piece of paper it doesnt make the bird any better the sky and basket is my birds pedigree's
Guest Owen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 bakes I totally agree with you. If what you say is right, and I believe it is, who buys the birds that have never flown, out of birds that have never flown? Surely, if these birds in the paper were as good as they are cracked up to be, they would win everything in sight. And the owners would sell them with their prize cards. That way they could make better money. Could'nt they?
Guest bakes Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 me personally think that there is to much money paid out yeah theres birds out there that has bred top fed club winners but doesnt meen because you have these birds in yours you going to win week in week out everyone looks at a pedigree and go yes look at that granparents won this won that but if you not feed them right trained them right preped them right you aint going to win nothink me personally feel this way alot of people swear by birds with good pedigrees but that doent make a bird after all when the birds in the basket when that bird is libbed and flying back the pedigree aint going to help the bird out its the bird its self the passion the will to get home that makes good birds but all to your own at the end of the day what do i no im only a new starter but thats the way i look at ive got doo's in my loft with good pedigrees but dont meen they going to win each week when they start up all to your own. all the best.
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 well i admit ive been to louella and brought birds and ive brought birds from the bhw and auctions this time of year. it must be me whos keeping these studs and auctions going all on my own lol i guess im also the only person to have stock pigeons cause every one else on the site seems to go by the basket lol and i never knew we had so many champions every one on the site speaks like one !!!! lol if only most of you could put it into practice lol
Guest Owen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 ROCKYandRAMBO well said. You are right we are all experts when we talk on here. And I have spent a lot on pigeons from Auctions and Studs. Most of them ended up in the bin and me out of pocket. These days I am in a much better position. I have birds that have won races and I have bought in a couple that are proven winners. I have the prize cards to prove it. I aimed at getting myself birds that came home. That was my first objective. Then I decided to allow myself to keep 10 stock pairs. That bit was easy. Then I decided to replace the stock pigeons with the best racers at the end of each year. That was assuming I had some. And I did not like killing good birds one bit in the beginning. Now a cock has to have won a minimum of 4 races to be allowed to breed. The hens have just to have performed well. So now I do not waste my money on figments of someone elses imagination. I just deal in known facts. And that means working with my own birds to make improvements, year on year. Guess what! they are definately getting better. Not Champions but damn good birds.
Guest triballofts Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 im no expert and never will be ha ha just keep trying pair winners to winner or brother and sister of winners to winners if pos
biglad Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 you buy by reputation as do we all but remember you can buy the mans best but you buy the birds not the man and what works for him might not work for you

schouwman71 Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 so wil a sprinter win a 500ml race then, before you jump out and say yes,you would be wrong, before you bite back,1st have you seen abird drop in and win a 500ml race, and if so tell me if it had won a sprint ? . to win at this kind of race you need a good marathon pigeon, same goes with sprinters you need an athlete, but young zimmy know what hes talking abouy. les
soontjen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 hi the best sprint i have bought in are the lambrects, from graham mathews birmingham, hope this helps, ken. gotta agree with ken since i have bought in the lambrechts they have done the biz!!

Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 well i have a pair of busschearts at stock . the cock won five firsts for me and was only raced as a yearling and two year old . his mate a pure white hen was only raced as a young bird and won first club second fed then came back in a box the next week , this pair have bred many winners together and apart well the cock has bred winners with six different hens well any hen hes been with . in 2004 they bred a nest pair of whites the hen of the pair won 5 firsts as a yearling all from basingsoke 140 miles to me but the nest mate a white cock done nothing but as a two year old he won montlucan 500 miles and has turned in to a very reliable distance bird and so have some of his brothers but some of his brothers sprint and win inland so they didnt go over the water so what would you call my pair at stock sprint pigeons or distance ??? or is it just how you treat and feed them ????
duncandoo Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 a good family will win from fifty miles to fivehundred miles and a famous man once said that a sprinter was a failed racing pigeon a one trick poney
dwh Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 getting back to what we said in the first place r&r and i agree its how you feed. as for so called sprinters remember these super belgian sprinters very rarely race from more than 1 race point van reet's danial thus they were known as sprinters!!!!!!(good pigeons make good pigeon men but good pigeon men don't make bad pigeons good they can only improve them )
dwh Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 by the way r&r you one lucky man to ave a stock pair to breed like that but you must bbe doing something right
