Guest Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 If anyone uses Redcell product, Do you put Redcell on the food or in the water, what day?
Guest Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 LOT of Vitimans in RED CELL which is for Horses but top flyers says allow use for Racing Pigeons too, Shadow. Most of top flyers says "RED CELL is quite good".
Chatrace Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Shake well before using and don't over do it. I would say 1/2 teaspoon to a gallon would be plenty. Just want to tint the water
Guest Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 FANCIERS. What else Vitmans do you gives your pigeons on the foods or in the water before race on weekends
Guest slugmonkey Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 I use red cell I put it directly on the food and let it sit about 30 minutes then I put brewers yeast on it and mix the whole thing throughly I give some type of supplement every 3 days starting about 2 weeks before I start training some other products I use -calf manna- recuplex- vita preen- a mixed grit- I dont use any one product consistently but prefer to mix the usage I belive ALL contain too much of too many ingredients but by mixing I limit specific substances from specific sources I belive variety is the key I also feed some alfalfa and kelp on occasion
Guest slugmonkey Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 The alfalfa and kelp are specifically for vitamin E and Iodine

MsPigeon Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 There sure is a lot of products meant for other animals such as horses being used for pigeons... :X Ever heard of hypervitaminosis? :-/ :X
jimmy_bulger Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 hi craig you would be better off with nutonic, ian snaith could probly fill you in on it. yours in sport ,jimmy.
Guest Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Basically don't see much point in giving pigeon products to pigeons, and definitely don't see ANY point in giving non-pigeon products to pigeons. Pour vits etc by the gallon - won't make one jot of a difference if the bird can't use it there and then. Anything additional to the bird's normal requirements usually ends up right back on the floor. ;D sh** loads of money?
Guest Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 Would this redcell harm pigeons or not because Red Cell is a supplement for horses.
Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Speight, stuff for horses is specially formulated to meet the horse's normal bodily needs... which will be entirely different to a pigeon's needs given that one is a mammal like us (and around the same weights too) and the other is a bird weighing between 400/600 grams. A pigeon is also one of those very high metabolism creatures, which needs to eat 10% of its body weight daily. If you or I ate, or fed the horse that much, we'd all be dead by next week. So there's no similarity between mammals and birds. I'm sure your birds will be just as healthy without the 'exotic' stuff.
Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 hi craig you would be better off with nutonic, ian snaith could probly fill you in on it. yours in sport ,jimmy. Hi Jimmy Bulger, I'll have a word with Mr Snaith about Nutonic, How's your Baakuis? Yours in sport Speight
Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Do you anyone uses "BANG ON" from Ronnie Bigwood's products What do you think Bang On any good to you on your results?
jimmy white Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 i think we all go over the score in adding, too much to the water i think some birds must wonder what "real" water is nowadays :)
Guest Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 true Jimmy Do you put RedCell in the winter season or Breeding season?.
Guest slugmonkey Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 I only use it before and during training and not so much for races I think it helps with condition and dosent drop birds from stress as bad I think they rebound better after bad tosses again I use sparingly Bruno I think you are right what they dont use goes right on floor and I am sure not all of these products are absorbed or required but I have definatly noticed an increase in overall health since I started doing this
westburylofts Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 We used Red Cell for racing greyhounds and only after they had raced as it was belived to be better this way. as for pigeons i would not use it at all. cannot give you a detailed reason why but from others that i know that used it over a few years, found that when they stopped using it there results improved, so that was good enough for me. But as we have said before if it works for you then why change it. RAY
Guest Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Personally I would use a drop of Cod Liver oil on the feed. I agree with Bruno here, I think all the Snake Oil Salesman have moved to the Pigeon Sport.
