i have never seen it happen before and only noticed because 1 of the yb had a foul smelly mouth and crop looked strange so i squeezed out the contents and there they were slugs and worms among the seed i'm gonna keep the oldbirds in till the yb are weaned

most pigeons given the chance will do this its natural for them especially when on open hole ,only way to stop it now is keep them locked up ,eating slugs etc is really good protein for growing young birds ,but better to worm them once they are weaned ,old/young ;)

so i can leave them for out flying and just worm after weaning cheers

to help the crop of the pigeons to smell better and not get sour crop,,,,,let them have acess charcoal and coal dust !!! you will be suprised !!

All the protein etc the youngsters need comes from crop milk. Thats one of the reasons Nature made it so rich, simply because pigeons don't eat 'insects' so the young birds need an alternative source for their protein.

I know birds will eat snails, personally I try to stop mine doing it, but I have never heard of pigeons eat slugs or earthworms, and I wouldn't be happy with that either..

Snails can carry flukes, which invade the body organs and kill. They are also intemediatory hosts for tapeworm; earthworms are intermediatory hosts for one type of hairworm. Hairworm are particularly nasty cos its the gut lining that they live in.
