steve Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 well carnt recommend one as such as never used one yet but am using the services of flying couriers this coming week i hope. these birds should of been picked up last week but couldnt get a courier (then i was gonna pick them up today myself but this went tit's up too) so back to couriers but will let you know how things go
PigeonTracker Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 Surprised and dissapointed you couldn't get a courier Steve, we have a base or two up there and we send vans up and down each week without fail regardless of numbers, we could certainly have helped you out, never mind you've got it sorted now which is the main thing. Just to keep you up to speed with what' happening in the courier world in Scotland from the messages we're getting. Some of the couriers are waiting on getting numbers to justify the long haul up there which is understandable if not always good for the fancier, some are just not up to the task and make empty promises which has in many cases ended in lost sales for people, and well the others, they just shouldn't be carrying the birds period. The one thing we can put your mind to rest on is Scotland won't be needing to worry about a courier for the future as there's plenty of planning going on for when the season starts. Good luck with your choice. Jamie

Jamie Cannot reisit knocking the opposition can you!!!!
Guest Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 Cannot reisit knocking the opposition can you!!!! OOOOPPPS typing error lol You cannot resist knocking the opposition can you!!!! Come on Jamie ............. Other carriers have made a contribution to this thread WITHOUT making adverse comments, and NO ONE has knocked you, (on this thread). So why make comments that are likely to cause yet another arguement??? In the course of time, each and every one of us will undoubtedly make a mistake somewhere along the line, and that includes you, no one is perfect!!! At the end of the day there is more than enough work for everyone. I suggest the Moderators should compile a definitive list of good couriers (based on past recommendations) and place it in a prominent place on the site, for fanciers to make their own choice, and lock it so that no comments can be made on it. I know it will stop freedom of speech from people giving praise where it is due, but it will also stop people from "blowing their own trumpet" and looking for opportunities to consistantly try and put the opposition down, in many cases without justification. In general ALL the courier services are doing a good job, and if it is found that any particular service is under performing, then based on pm's to the moderator, he should use his/her discretion to have that courier removed from the suggested list. My thoughts and only a suggestion.
pjc Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 All members i'm sure will try various couriers over the next few months and when they find the one that gives them the best service they will probably stick with them! As Bob says just let the members decide, why keep knocking others Jamie as your service isn't always as good as you make out is it? I heard on the grape vine you were picking 2 birds up from me yesterday and i would receive a phone call thurs/fri to arrange, I got a phone call yesterday to say a driver was on his way, 5 minutes latter I would have been out! I had to leave them with a neighbour! "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"

There is already a list of couriers, which is sticky on the notice board so that it is easy to find. Also there is feedback from the couriers on the stray centre board under pigeon couriers good / bad stories. http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1219929388/ Also, if there are any couriers that need to be added or deleted please pm me. Flyin Couriers I don't think your on this list, if you give me your phone number, emaill address, website if you have one and the areas covered then I can add you to the list.

Guest Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 please lets not have a go at carriers on open thread this is what hapened to amtrak and lets face it look at the state we are in without them now so if you dont like the service a certain one gave you just dont use them they wont be there for long if they keep getting it wrong this is my first time i have been put in a bad situation because of a carrier i hope its the last but somehow i dont think so and i cant blame a carrier for bumping up his own end thats life but if they cant produce the goods at the end of the day that will finnish them but we seem ready to shoot our self in the foot every time for jumping on there backs right away how would it be if no-one done it where would we be then?

I wasn't knocking couriers Frank, to be fair. I was pointing out that a particular courier continually puts other couriers down. He may well provide a good service, but he should be promoting his company and NOT slagging of the rest. It is not doing him any favours. What I have said a number of times on here is, it's our choice who we use and he, putting the rest down is doing his business no good, but he seems incapable of seeing the point I am making.
Guest Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 i agree len i dont necicary agree with people scoring points from one another either but thats the way all business do it now but the proof of the pudding is in the eating i think
Guest Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 i agree len i dont necicary agree with people scoring points from one another either but thats the way all business do it now but the proof of the pudding is in the eating i think Frank, I'm not wishing to start an arguement with you, but I must take up a point. I'ts NOT the way ALL businesses do it. I have looked at most threads and haven't noticed any other courier putting anyone elso down, apart from one. There has been many good and bad comments from fanciers on here, which I have no problems with.
grizzle_hen Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 If you wish to discuss couriers or give any feedback please use the stray centre board http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/b-straycentre/ where you'll find two feedback topics and various other information and discussions on pigeon couriers. As stevie-b has hopefully found the information that needs I will lock this topic and if you wish to continue your discussion on pigeon couriers and anything related to them, please use the stray centre board
