Guest Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Try Pigeon Tracker..... got hundreds of them http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1227092458/
Guest chrisss Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 I think all of them should do the boxes for free (JMO) so do i
OLDYELLOW Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 I think all of them should do the boxes for free (JMO) have to agree , but most couriers are on a shoe string budget and the courier buisness can either succeed or fail so making a big investment in boxes when people are out of work and suffering from the credit crunch , people are not buying pigeons like in recent years its a buyers market thats for sure can see alot of big studs end up with lots of suplass before long and the price of corn wont bring prices too far down
Guest MIKE1957 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 I think all of them should do the boxes for free (JMO) when i used jm they delivered my birds in there own 6 bird boxes, i would presume they carry them all the time
OLDYELLOW Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 I know what you are saying Mark and give credit to all the couriers i have used not one has charged for boxes but have stories of it, the cost of the box should im my opinion be built into the price. What happens after all if the courier arrives and on principle someone refuses to pay the extra £1.50 or whatever for the boxes - The courier then loses more than the cost of the box in petrol. I disagree about people buying pigeons due to the climate i dont think it has affected it overall much at all except maybe sellers have dropped the prices in some cases to suit the market. PS - This isnt a knock on JM couriers regarding the boxes, just my opinion i think a price should be a price without add on's ( i think the same about people who sell a pigeon for £30 but you can have the pedigree for extra etc) have to agree there should be no hidden costs and boxes should be included im sure as these couriers have the power to buy in bulk so less costly to absorb the cost in the price you pay , and as you say far more costly if they turn up no boxes for pigeons at there pick up point As for pedigrees i have to disagree with you , if your just wishing to race the bird better to pay £30 without a pedigree than say £70 with a pedigree , most people know they can sell bits a paper easier than good pigeons so those wishing to make finacial gain usualy will pay more , and it takes time to write a pedigree so the time it takes to write one comes into it and the cost of buying these super lines, my posts on this topic arent about JM Couriers just couriers in general
joe61 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 i think that the fancier should provide his own boxes, are we that hard up for a couple of quid, in most cases i have seen boxes sent that are worth more than the pigeons..lol ;D oh happy days
Guest bigda Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 seems you have seen a lot joe, it not like you joe to open yer mouth
PigeonTracker Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Try Pigeon Tracker..... got hundreds of them http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1227092458/ Thanks for the plug Bob but I doubt we're the only ones with boxes, most couriers will have, or should have just in case. There's nothing worse for the fancy if the courier turns up with no box, mind you its a good idea to ask beforehand when you take the order. It was hell last year going to X amount of customers with no boxes waiting while up to 20 or more birds were boxed (lucky we had enough on board). Thus its not the cost of the boxes themselves that pose the problem its the time wasted waiting on actually boxing the birds which can add up. That said, I don't think for a second the customer should have to pay for the boxes either, they should be taken into account by couriers but that's just an opinion we hold. I have offered to sell the boxes to the other couriers for as little as 32 pence each if they fetch them off us which I don't think they can get cheaper unless buying in large quantities of thousands? so there's no excuse for not having any. As this thread is mainly about jmcouriers who I wish all the luck for the season I'll jump out now as I don't want to steal their thunder.

Doesn't it depend on the courier Paul? Taking my courier hat off if I were paying just £25 for Wales to Scotland I'd be more than happy to pay for the boxes.
joe61 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 paul what i think is if you have boxs at home ready then all you do is box them up and give to the driver no rush for you and no waiting for him some moan about a couple of quid its just a little bit of help for the driver oh happy days
Guest racer Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 i totally agree with pigeon tracker £25 very cheap supply your own boxes no problem when they charge more then they should supply boxes ;)
joe61 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 bigda chelsea play tonight im suffering [PMT] thats pre match tension if we lose it will still be [PMT] but post match trauma oh happy nights i hope
pjc Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 when a courier collects from you for the first time then ask them for a couple of spare boxes, if you intend to use them again then you can have the birds ready. If they are not prepared to leave you with a couple then they will have to wait as we are not all in a position or have a local shop that we can buy boxes from without paying delivery charges!
Guest strapper Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 can i mention this ..jm courriers are exellent and cant fault them...they have been here a few times and are always welcome here..they have even had a cuppa once or twice here ,so let me say use them because they give a good service, doesnt matter what my opinion on supplying boxes is ,the service is good from them. :) :)

gooner Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 personally i think couriers should supply boxes becuase otherwise boxes will be getting used more than once which could lead to the spread of diseases
