pigeonforce Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 A common problem that pigeon couriers are finding is fanciers are making double bookings with other couriers to see who comes first, this is putting us out of our way and also costing us, with fuel prices rising every day we cannot afford to be traveling 100 miles and then to be told the pigeon has already been picked up. (This happened twice last week to us) Also will other couriers when they take bookings and say they will pick up on a day try and stick to the day or at least let the customer know where they stand, as this is causing the problem of double booking (comunication is the key), if you can not handle the work load then please dont just take bookings and let the customer down, its giving the good pigeon couriers a bad name. Also we have had various stories of fanciers paying couriers over the phone By Debit/credit card and then the birds not been picked up, and them not been able to contact them. if your sending birds either pay cash on collection or cash on delivery, after all its your hard earned money.
pigeonforce Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 Two more Jobs today that were double booked with various couriers, nearly cost me 200 miles round trip, Fanciers need to stop double booking as it will only make the service harder in the long run. Customers help couriers to help customers
pjc Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 have you gone back to the customers to check if they did double book or has somebody gained access to your bookings?
pigeonforce Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 have you gone back to the customers to check if they did double book or has somebody gained access to your bookings? Yes last customer said he had booked with 3 this week for same bird and it got picked up yesterday, i phoned tonight to tell him i was coming in the morning, when he told me , some other courier will still be going to pick it up yet.
pigeonforce Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 y nearly cost u 200 miles Because i was going out of my way to pick it up for the customer to elp him out as he had been let down before by others.
pigeonforce Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 No i dont need to be quicker, think you will find that my service is good enough with many picked up and dropped off same day, do other couriers offer this, not going round in circles with you, if they want to use others thats fine but all will be asked if they have booked it in with others before we take the job, you learn by mistakes.
whiteflighted Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 do u ask the person if they have booked another courier first and if they say no then ask for fuel money or do you not learn by your mistakes
