Guest CS Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 This e-mail forwarded by Jimmy White. Hello James Hope you are feeling a bit better this morning. Looks like it is going to be a nice day.. Liberated the stray pigeon at 9.15.am this morning after being fed and watered much earlier.First of all it just landed on the roof but it was clear that it was going to take off. Five minutes later it took off like a bullet then circled twice very high up and then headed straight west. The bird was looking great considering how exhausted it was just two days ago. I put a note over the metal ring and hopefully it goes right back to its loft and the owner 'phones me. Liberating the pigeon this morning with a note on its leg and watching it disappear into the horizon was a fantastic feeling. It brought back very real memories of our time when we were kids Clear memories of our Dad came to mind----fantastic brilliant times! Regards David
Guest CS Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 This e-mail forwarded by Jimmy White. James Hope you are feeling a bit better this morning. Good news with our 'lost' pigeon., it returned to its loft at 11.30am yesterday after being liberated from my place at 9.15am although it took off at 9.30am.Its owner John Mack from Alloa, Clackmannanshire 'phoned me yesterday and told me that the bird was lost from a toss in Peebles a week ago. Peebles to Alloa by road is 57 miles and Currie to Alloa is 35 miles. John sounded a very a nice guy and thanked me very much for looking after his bird, I told him you were the pigeon man (although you learned a lot from me ) and that you gave me the pigeon 'grub' to feed it. He is a member of the Forth Bridges Independet RPC club and this is his first season keeping pigeons since keeping them with his Dad as a young boy. His first young bird race is this week.He was proud of this bird as it was bred as a long distance bird ( Dourdan!! ). David
jimmy white Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 happy ending you did well david , but as for you teaching me about the birds ;D ;D ;Di would love a strain of dourdans ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
