fred smyth Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 can a hen lay 2 eggs on the same day , or how close dose there have to be 2 days between 1st and 2nd egg,
Guest frank dooman Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 prob another hen went into the wrong box and laid
fred smyth Posted January 17, 2010 Author Report Posted January 17, 2010 so like there's no way a hen could keep 1st egg in and then lay both.
Guest frank dooman Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 ok thanks .. no probs thats the most likly cause of 2 eggs in the one bowl at the same time hen in the wrong box
fred smyth Posted January 17, 2010 Author Report Posted January 17, 2010 no probs thats the most likly cause of 2 eggs in the one bowl at the same time hen in the wrong box so in that case i should end up with 3 eggs in the box then
pigeonscout Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 so in that case i should end up with 3 eggs in the box then You could end up with 4 eggs in the nest if two hens have paired up.

pigeonscout Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 yes unless she goes into her own box for the second egg I was thinking of two Lesbian hens paired up=4 eggs. Fred if you think it belongs to another hen then mark the two eggs in the box and when the 3rd egg comes there will be a good chance you can tell the odd one out. let the odd one stay in the nest until you see a hen with one egg that came same day as the 3rd egg. The odd one + the single should also match ie same shape and size. It is not 100% sure way the right egg will be with the right hen but it is the best you have.
