SallyannW Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 This little fella ( girl?) appeared in my garden nearly a week ago and has really made himself at home! I cannot get quite close enough to catch him but I have managed to just about make out his ring number which is WHU2007T and I think the number is 05415. My two daughters and I have become quite attached to him as he seems quite an inquisitive bird but we realise his owner will be missing him and he needs to go home. We'll often walk out the back door and he'll be peering over from the flat roof. At the moment he's on the house roof looking a wee bit sorry himself as it's wet here today. He is eating wild bird seed and drinks from the pebble fountain! He 's not injured as he disappears when it gets dusky, possibly into the trees in next door's garden. Sally

invalidusername Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Sally - many thanks for joining the forum and posting this. Your care is very much appreciated. If you are able to catch the bird and report it (or even just report it in the first instance) to the contact OLDYELLOW provided, that'd be excellent. Regards :-)
SallyannW Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 Thanks so much for the info. We haven't seen him since about 3pm yesterday so we're thinking he must have gone home unless he's been in the farmer's fields nearby. We are quite sorry to see him go to be honest. If he appears again I'll try and catch him. Any suggestions as to what I can put him in?
invalidusername Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Well done Sallyann. If you do come upon him again, something secure but airy (I guess even a cat box - that sort of thing) would be fine. Thanks again for your concern :-)
pjc Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Sallyanne, still e-mail Gail at the WHPU and you maybe able to contact the owner to see if the bird has found his way home. I'm sure the owner would be pleased to know where he's been living it up! Phil

I'm sure the owner would be pleased to know where he's been living it up! Phil Thanks Phil I will do that. My daughters and I have really missed him since he went and we're hoping he's safe. I never thought I'd get so attached to a pigeon! Sally
pjc Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Its always nice for us fanciers to know where birds have been when they have gone AWOL. If you have read "Pigeon in my kitchen" i'm sure you would get help setting up your own little loft for you and your daughter to enjoy! Phil
