There was a few threads posted during the early part of the year on 'bad hatch results' amongst those breeding early, and questions were being asked whether it was down to really cold weather at the time, or something more sinister, e.g. disease. There was a request that folk who paired later post their experiences. Here's mine.

Paired Sun 28th February. Some bother with a few pairs that didn't take to each other, and these were put back to a section to sort themselves out, remaining 15 pairs laid within 4 days of each other, all eggs fertile, chose 12 pairs to breed from, these have been hatching daily from 28th March, last 4 chipping today, due out tomorrow. No probs with other hatchlings, coming along fine.

The birds are on plastic nest bowls, with nest felts and pairs have built on top with straw.
