Rob I use ebay and click on "nearest first" I then collect in person and avoid them getting scrambled through the post. Best option mate.

I don't have any at the moment. Had a clean out and like yoi going for egg layers now. I have Red, Buff and Light Sussex in the incubator at the moment. Give me a call mate and we can talk about it, or come round, it's only 4 miles away  ;D ;D

french moran are best layers not too sure on spelling

Yes Good layers of dark brown eggs Mark. They come in some great colours too. Only down side is they are a big Chicken and food consumption to egg ratio is not as good as other breeds like Welsummer, R.I.R, Sussex and the Hybrids If you want different coloured eggs for a bit of fun Cream Legbars lay blue eggs.

where did you get yours from bob ? barrys got some light sussex bantams but there not laying yet , i dont know what to go for , i want a pure breed as then the option is there to show them , as ive won a couple of cards with the modern game , but i dont really take it that serious to be any gd at showing , wouldnt mind some arucanas i think they lay the blue egg , my mate crossed these with his marans and he gets green eggs now lol

The cream legbar is an Aracana hybrid but no good for showing. I was thinking of getting some Barnevelders and Buff and Blue Laced Wyandottes. As I say give me a ring mate and we can discuss it.

i've kept chickens since early childhood. the best layers i've come across so far (value for money) are the rescued battery hens i have now. for hatching eggs you could give swaffam saturdays a try (evil)....or look out for one of the slightly 'better' sales that take place less often at elveden or mildenhall . for looks welsummers are my favourites.....but silkie x light sussex arer nice to :)

i have got lavender pekins lemon pekins ,for eggs i have 10 ex battery hens that lay superbly  also got couple of marans there eggs are huge next lot in are some new hampshire reds that iv been promised just got to get the run completed its nice to have a variety to look at

as a lot on here from norwich area,,,is norwich livestock market still going,if not, whats happened to it,stopped or moved  ???

Norwich City Council is in dispute with the former tenant of the Livestock Market and regretfully all markets are suspended until matters are resolved between the parties. At the moment the council is assessing its options following the suspension.

It is unlikely the site will be reopened within six months. The condition of the market, large debts accumulated by the previous tenant and the poor condition it has been left in all mean a lot of work needs to be done.

The council is very keen to see the livestock market continue for the city and hopes to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
