Identifying parasites and diseases accurately with microscopes and at an early stage is essential in keeping a healthy bird stock. This is particularly true of racing pigeons. Parasite infestations can lose races!

 

Coccidiosis, Worm and Canker

 

The only way you can be sure whether your birds have coccidiosis, worm or canker is to actually identify the parasite eggs with a microscope. It is not really the answer to treat them “just in case”, particularly with wormers. The effect on the bird can almost be as bad as the disease itself. Treat what they have - not - what they might have!
