History tells us about the "millions upon millions" of American Passenger Pigeons. So many (they reckoned) that it was impossible to count them, they just never stopped streaming past on their migrational flights Spring and Autumn. But the guns started shooting them for fast food, and eventually the last one was shot. They became extinct. Now all they have are photos of them. One day there may come a time when it will be impossible for "another one to move in . . ." because there won't be another one. If there are enough determined people to ensure it.
