Very interesting you guys. I was going to paint it bright white for my old eyes but that’s why I asked The List. I will have to treat it for termites; they are so bad here you can’t use wooden clothes pins are you clothes will be on the ground by the time you get to the end of the line. Maybe light blue walls and bare floor or some kind of hard dark paint that can be scraped!

Two Questions, I am going to use ¾ plywood floor, should I paint it and is white OK? Should I paint all of the inside and again is white OK? About the roof, I am thinking about that corrugated aluminum with insulation to block the radiated heat or should I just use ½ plywood also. It's very hot over here! Lots of rain also

Think I am going to go with the birds! Between arthritis and diabetes my feet are hurting all the time. I think it’s time to go a head and slow down and see how much I can stay off my feet so! (I’m 64) I’ll try to start the loft this week if the rain ever slows down. I’ll get two birds out of a nest and two pairs to start my own line and see where I end up. I won’t be able to race this year but maybe I can be ready for next year and have some smarts if I keep reading this forum. Thanks for you advice and help.

Greetings from tomorrow, Just an update to let you know I haven’t lost interest “yet”. I have chosen a loft plan and am waiting on the rains to let up or I’ll have to put pontoons on the loft. We have had three cyclones go north of us at sea but the rains have spun off in bands and it has just rained, day in and day out for weeks. I “think” I’ll start with two breeding pairs from winners and a few 21 day old birds just to cut my time to fly down. The birds I start with will have no records of the pass lineage so I’ll just have to build my own line (Burr Birds). Some thoughts, I’m 64 years old and still very active, cycling, lifting and diving. I keep asking myself if this is what I want to do at this time in my life. I was a work-a-holic and owned three business in America before retiring last year. I think I would put myself all the way into pigeons and I am just not sure I want to make that commitment at this time in my life. In 30 years I never missed a day of work or was late, I would attack pigeons the same way. I am also thinking about moving to Palawan as soon as we find property and build a house (from Bamboo). I think I could learn a lot from starting now and just use these birds as breeders down there. So, as you all can see I have a lot to think about as I make plans in regards to pigeons. Anyone want to think out loud about my “shaky” plans! Cost isn’t a big thing, it’s time!

Hi Everyone, I’m a new guy from the other side of the world. I’m a retired American telephone man (owned my own communication business) married to a retired Pilipino banker living in Bulacan (30 miles north of Manila) the Philippines. I am totally new to Pigeons, my vet is going to give me a breeding pair and take me into his “racing group”, and I’ll be on my way. I have down loaded a ream of information from the net and read most of it so now I am an “ex-pert”. I have no idea what I am going to do just yet, lots of ideas and about ready to start building a “coop/loft” this week. I don’t think I want to build a room yet because it is always hot here, it does rain but mostly it comes strait down. My bother-in-laws all have pigeons but I don’t think they have any idea what they are doing as they haven’t done anything by the book and don’t even have tags. The two questions I have today are, how important is it to have the coop facing the morning sun and does anyone have some free plans or can someone point me to them on the net? I am going to make the loft as self cleaning as I can with just a little help from a hose. I think I am going to build a breeding coop, baby bird coop and a flying coop all setting beside each other. All right, I have to go out but I’ll check the list when I get back. I hope I can be a part of this group and learn a lot.
