HI Mader Nice tidy loft mate, just wondering why you're putting more vents in? Your birds are in great condition and if i had mine in that shape i wouldn't touch anything. Mayb you have other reasons though. All the best

I actually use enfamil but sma was easier to spell :X

feed birds b4 given water. They can have as much as they want but won't overeat. Remove leftover feed b4 putting drinker in. If you don't the birds will go back for more after they've had a drink. When breeding i use osteocare liquid in the drinkers - extra calcium, have eggs like pearls. Also baby feed(sma or similar) on feed with garlic oil. If it's good enough for babies then it's good enough for squeakers imo. Widowhood- sometimes i have a mirror about 6 x 4 inches that i put in the nestbox. Some cocks really do hate themselves

What colour will I get if I pair these?
mcclaff replied to owen101's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
I read somewhere that grizzle is not really a colour as such, more a pattern and and could throw out any number of coloured pigeons. Dunno how accurate this though. -
I scrubbed all mine in bleach/water then left in the sun to dry. When they dried i gave them 3 coats of ronseal varnish. Now i use a damp cloth.

Who regulates One Loft Races?

Don't really catch your drift here m8 but Just a wee update on all of this. John Boyd was phoned by my representative and openly told him that there was no chance of me getting paid what is owed to me, and was cocky enough to say that I'd have to take him to court to get it. Knowing you will read this John your defence that you're now not paying me because I posted on a forum wont work and shows you for what you are. Fact is John, no matter whether I post on here or any other forum or in the homing world or any other newspaper the fact remains that you still owe me the prize money you accepted I won. Looks like the only way to get your prize money from this race is to apply to the courts which can't be good for business? Will keep you all updated on what happens but one things for sure I will get my money and Mr. Boyd will get a judgement against him, one thing for certain to come out is how much exactly has been paid out because I will be asking the court to see if I'm not the only victim. -

Just for the record, and i know you haven't quoted me here, but i'm speaking on behalf of myself here, no-one else. If you believe i have been paid what i'm owed i suggest you ask John yourself as from the tone of your message you seem to at least have heard of him! I only hope that he doesn't fill your head with the same amount of "bull sh**" that i've had from him over the past year. -

He told me the reason they didn't honour the cheque was he'd had a disagreement with them, and changed banks b4 i'd lodged the cheque. :-/ :-/ I will be writing a letter and posting it later and thanks for all the support. -

Who regulates One Loft Races?

Delboy, i can assure you this is true. I organized a syndicate with 3 of my mates who all live out of the country, thought it would be a good way to keep in touch. We entered 2 birds at total cost of £250. Anyway my mates come home at Christmas for a visit each year so i kept the cheque i was sent until then to show them that everythin was above board. I tried to cash it after Christmas and it was returned by the bank. Of course i got straight on the phone to John Boyd who said he'd replace it which he didn't and the same has been happening ever since. After one call he even said he had sent a replacement out and before he would send me another he would have to check with the bank that i hadn't already cashed it. So, treated like dirt and then insulted into the bargain!! > -

Thanks I'll have to go search out the paperwork as there is nothing on the website about which organisation they race under. -

Hi all Just wonderin if anyone can help me find a way to get John Boyd, Owner of the Emerald Classic One Loft Race to pay me the £150 that he owes me for coming 4th in a hot spot race last year, yes that's right, last year!! He did send me a cheque after the event that the bank wouldn't honour and after countless emails and phone calls i have not recieved anything but excuses and "i'll send it out next week", which i'm seriously fed up with. > Does the RPRA have any regulating authority over one loft races or can owners/organisers just do what they like??? If one loft race organisors mess people about like this is there any governing authority that holds them to account??? If so can someone please let me know so i can make a formal complaint as i'm fed up bein takin for a ride and making pointless, costly phone calls. I know i could go to a solicitor but i don't need the extra expense. > > > Thanks in advance

Came 4th in one of the hot spot races in the Emerald Classic last year, yes that's last year and still haven't been paid for it. John Boyd, (owner) sent me the cheque but it was made of rubber, or as he put it i waited too long to cash it, though he hasn't sent me another as yet. I've heard through the grapevine that i'm not the only one. After numerous emails and phone calls to him as recent as last week i'm still empty handed. Is the RPRA responsible for governing One Loft Races in these Isles i.e. can i report this to them and will they do anything about it? I'm fed up listening to his excuses and don't even want to talk to the man anymore. I know i could hire a solicitor but i don't want the expense of that either. > > >

If i had a corridor with chimneys above it, louvres at each end of it at floor level and closed off the sections where the birds are, (bar the half dowelled corridor sections) do you think this would remove the stale air or do the louvres have to be actually in the space that the birds live in. Hope that makes sense :-/ All advice very much appreciated

Keith Mott had the same problem. Try this link - hope it works www.elimarpigeons.com/Article4/KeithBettyMotthtm.htm

Thanx mick and where would be the best place to allow the air into the loft in your opinion - under the eaves at the back or at ground level - just thinking about drafts.
-
thanx m8, will have a look
-
