In Egg! (Newbie) (1/8)

  1. Why all the different oils?. :-/
  2. Hope you enjoy the strawbs and cream. Some good fishing down there also.
  3. Thanks for the replies, some good points there. From what I can gather there are a lot of clubs with good membership, but due to the problems today in relation to costs members are just not sending. At least the clubs will survive with the membership fees etc. I will look to next year now , and see what happens then.
  4. The only problem is that the cost of sending to a club with only two members sending is just not economical. I would fly pigeons for the pleasure of just racing them. But to send in a club that has only got two members sending seems to me to be a bit pathetic. I don't see by me sending to such a club would in anyway encourage any new members, because the club does have a few members but they are just not sending. Also I have visited the club on marking nights and there has been no one there.
  5. What is the situation regarding club racing?. One of the local clubs near me had a race last weekend. Two members sent approx 80 birds. One member got 1,2,4. and 5 etc.I am now myself under the impression that it would be a waste of time flying in a local club as the numbers sending birds seems to be down to just a few members. I think the only decent racing for myself would be in the National and International races. What are your thoughts?.
  6. I would like to add my thoughts with the other fanciers on here. It is a sign of the times that this sort of thing can happen today. It must have been done on purpose. Why would you place the bike against a pigeon loft and set it alight ?.Again my thoughts are with the fancier.
  7. The reason I use Versel Laga is because I have visited their factory. The way that it is bought in , sorted, put into different types is amazing. also they have their own scientists working within the factory at all stages checking the process for contamination, and looking at better ways for improving production and satisfying the needs of all fancies.Their products provide for all types of events that can affect a pigeons ability to race. The bags that go out of the factory are all ioned with an inner plastic lining to keep the produce fresh and clean.I am not saying that other products are any less benefit for those who choose to use them, and that is it, it is a matter of choice. And I have won and come nowhere in races using versele Laga, I trust their products because I have taken the time to look at them at scource, maybe they do sell their products a so called fancy prices, but then again it is also down to the individual fancier to look at what they are or are not doing to keep their birds at the top.Good corn, water, grit, a small team, that is what works for me, and I have won some great races over the channel, thanks to my choice of Versele Laga, and my own efforts. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  8. I only ever use Versele Laga products.

I agree with that. But I have never witnessed the amount of rain being put down in such a short time. I had to wait ten mins the other day just to get out of the car.The road was flooded like never before in that time. The worst thing is that you can set out for a training toss in fine weather, then just as you get to your release point the weather changes in an instant. I never train with any one else.Being a distance man I single up,takes time.If the weather is bad it is just not worth it. Can take me a long time to single up, but it is well worth it. I only do the channel.

Was in the lake district last week, Keswick area. The weather was dreadful. I was pitying the racing then, if any libs took place. Not much hope for the near future with the forecast.
  11. There is courier in Leeds. Go to the RPRA website, they list them all.
  12. Only time I had young bird sickness was when they had been in the racing pannier. Clean loft, top corn, clean water etc.
  13. This type of thing is happening often now, mainly due to people not having the money to keep their pets anymore.Pity they had to leave it on a step in a box. It could have ended up in the wrong hands or been attacked by a cat or dog.At least it lookslike it has found a good home now though.

    Couriers

Have recently tried to have pigeons delivered by courier. One of them said they do not go to the Manchester area, one had a phone that was engaged constantly, and the mobile was turned off, one was very busy, but did get back to me. I did manage to get hold of one in the midlands and get sorted. What experiences have you had with couriers?.
