  2. Hi everyone who is following this thread,i wud just like to write a little bit of my experience with these birds.i never owned a bird before not even been round them even until i decided to join a new club here in the west of ireland with a friend who has always had pigeons of all type's so with his experience of keeping birds healthy and my desire to learn and competitive nature we decided to give it a go. As it happened i was very good friends with andy's brother who had moved to mayo last year and when andy heard i was looking to get into the sport he contacted me with advice and tips.i mentioned having seen m&d evans online and was thinking of getting a couple of pairs of gabby's when i was i heard andy laughing down the phone and said m8 ive already got them y not save ur money and i will look after u he said. so i went up to andy's to see the setup and as soon as i walked out the back garden of his uncles my jaw dropped, i couldn't believe my eyes everywhere i looked not just a few birds or even most this was EVERY bird, they were immaculate not a feather out of place and the colors were blinding the like's of which i had only seen on peoples web sites on birds pedigree's. not only that andy was giving me advice on the health of the birds he wanted to show me an example of healthy droppings and i kid you not but we couldn't find one and that in a loft with prob 50+ birds. In my opinion the loft management that is there is second to non and health of the birds unquestionable that is y i got my team of young birds in march of this year and i have gone back for more since and got my early order of 2010 yb's in before the books are closed. my only thing now is that i hope i can do andy's birds justice as i am only a novice and am making mistakes along the way but with andy being in touch at least twice a week with advice and support i will am sure i can do ok. out of my 40 yb's purchased i had two fly aways four came down the chimney as i didnt hav a cap on it,four to my stock loft, 2 of which unknown at the time were a nest out of the 7th nat andy has mentioned prev, so leaves me with a excellent team of 30 to give it a go starting next week in their first race. just want to thank you publicly andy for all u have done for me and hope that anyone who gets some of the birds have the same joy with them i have ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

  11. hi everyone.another novice here looking for a bit of advice. I have only had my birds since feb and having never owned or even been interested (if im being honest) in the creatures before i have had to try and do a lot of research and brainpicking in order to better my knowledge of the birds and sport. i understand that it is going to take a while until im up to scratch but in the mean time i do not want my birds to suffer because of my inexperience. So, on to my problem. Up until last week i thought i was on track with my birds as they were exercising well, trapping well, ect. but then 4 days ago i noticed some watery droppings, some yellowy and one or two slimy green and on the perch's there was food.i let them out for their fly and when i was calling them in after approx 1hr, nothing not a bird came.when i eventually spotted them on a rooftop some 200 yards away i was bewildered as they could hear me whistle and still refused to come.they came of their own accord later in the day and so i decided not to feed that day.on coming into the loft the next day my heart sank as everywhere i looked instead of the normal nutty browns i saw all droppings were gone the same as the few the day before.(slimy green). i got some advice and took all minerals and grits out and gave them amoxycillan in the water which i am to continue for 7 days.(day 2 now). i was due to enter my first race today which i couldnt and i am wondering if i will b able too send next week if its cleared up or do i need to hold on and build them back up again as i am guessing that a weeks treatment and no min, grit or vits will knock them back a good bit. so please guys and gals if i could get some thoughts on if im doing the right thing and what i should do with them as regards racing in the following weeks.
