  1. PIGEON UPDATE.... While my husband watched and laughed at me through the window (he likes birds less than me), armed with a towel (don't know why!!) and a box I've captured the pigeon. No one mentioned how fast they can run!!! It cooed quite a bit and flapped it's good wing, but I think it's settled. I've given it some water in a deep dish, and have learnt more about pigeons in the last few hours than in my 33 years of life. I'll keep the bird tonite, and Tenny has kindly agreed to pick it up tomorrow morning. Thank you everyone for your help and advice.
  2. Hi, Mr Pope has his phone turned off. I will attempt to put it in a box until morning, so at least the birds / foxes can't get to it. Is there a special way to pick it up ? will it peck me, or more to the point will it hurt ? I don't want to hurt the bird, but really don't like them, but can't leave it out there with the predators .
  3. Calling all WHU members. Just found an injured bird with a ring stating WHU 2009 in my garden. Looks like it has an injured wing, slightly droopy and a little blood, doesn't appear able to fly. I've chased off two cats as I don't want the bird to come to harm, but can't take it in as I have a dog and am scared of birds (hence haven't been able to read the rest of the ring, although it has a T in it.) Called WHU who are not open until monday. I live in Ystrad Mynach near Caerphilly any help advice greatly appreciated
  4. Hi just got home from work about two hours ago and found a pigeon in my garden which cannot fly. his wing is droopy and it is bleeding. He has a ring which I now know is WHU 2009. I can't read the other letters as I'm a bit scared of birds and don't want to get too close. I can't take the pigeon into my home as I have a dog and two rowdy kids. I called the WHU phone number but they are closed until monday. I've already chased off two cats, but can't guard the bird all night. Although I am not a fan of birds I would not want it to come to any harm. I live not far from Ystrad mynach in Caerphilly south wales. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
