Hi, thanks for replies, I see I should have put number in topic title, sorry, newbie to this site. The NPA site does not help either, they only have certain codes listed. He is still caged, and has eaten so must have been hungry, he has alos had a big drink so guess he was dehydrated in this weather.
Re. culling, I only get rid of the offspring of doves X pigeons, in order to keep the pure white doves, I am not culling racing pigeons! We used to leave the cross breeds, but after 5 years had a real mongrel lot of birds, so had to resort to a huge cull, very unpleasant. I now try to prevent crossbreeds by catching the pigeons before they get comfortable in my dovehouse and returning them to owners, who I hope are pleased to see them. We have about 70 plus doves, so are a bit of a magnet for racing pigeons, but we often lose doves to hawks, and our large hunting cat, so weakened pigeons do not last!
As I seem to have no luck in tracing this ring, I will keep him in for another day and release him on friday morning if weather good, and hope he moves on, I assume as it is an 03 ring he is 6 years old, that seems old for a pigeon.
