  10. i got home from my holiday last night and went to the birds before i even unlocked my house, id paid a teenager to water and feed them which he seems to have done ok, but i imediately noticed one of my birds wheezing badly he can fly, i saw him peck at food and dip at water but im not sure he actually ate or drank, he looks fairly bright and was preening and his mouth looked clear, but he is breathing through his beak with his beak open and the noise is terrible when he breaths out, if it were one of my kids id say a chest infection, but i have never had a sick bird before, im gonna go to the vet when it opens, though im not sure they have much pigeon experience ... any ideas what i should do ?? thanks guys
  11. first i wouldnt say that you had a bad niegbour !!!! but be careful not to be the bad niegbour, look at things from the other persons point of view, no one wants pigeons pooping on there stuff. try to avoid upsetting the niegbours and always be polite and apologise if you do, and im not sure who said, make them prove it but! but im sure theres no need to get so defensive at this stage good look

  19. i was worried about the same thing, but its only one bird, i have loads of spare next boxes and bowls but he and his hen are determined to nest in the penthouse! which is a tiny bit of space at the top and its hotest up there, his head looks so thin that hes earholes (for want of a better word are clearly visable, and he looks thin and not at his best, shall i just put it down to early molt ?
  20. i have 4 new fantails, i was told they were indian, but one hen is (beautiful) smaller and has her head so far down her back sometimes you can only see her chest and legs, so am i right in thinking that she is an exhibition fantail ? the others have lovely fanned tails but no muffs i think they are perhaps not pure bread indians? i think im starting to actually know what im doing !!!!
  21. i usually put some small twigs in ma loft for them to collect and put in the nest, but a funny thing happened last week i got some new birds and i was rigging up a sectioned off bit to quarenteen them for a bit, and i left my box of nails in the loft the next day i went to check on them and a pair had taken at least 100 assorted sized nails up into its nest, and they are not happy with me for trying to take them back out
  22. i havent anything at the moment, but i will keep you in mind
  23. something strange happend yesterday funnyly enough, I went out and while i was out a guy i know dropped off some stuff, i presuming he had a look at the new summerhouse and loft (cause hes nosy and hasnt seen um yet) when i got back both my baby birds were not in the loft... it made now sence they wernt anywhere!! i havent asked the guy if he accidently let them out, cause hed be really embarrassed, but another posibility is that they somehow have queezed themself between the bars of the trap door, (ive made adjustments now so they cant do it in future) but i cant see that being the case really, they are reluctent to go out and i only let them out when im around to keep my eye out for cats. anyway they were no where to be seen and they havent left the garden before, but to my joy i found one safely back in the loft this morning ... and i havent given up hope on the other bet you wished youd never asked lol thanks for asking anyway storm x, hows you and yours
  24. its a boy !
