  1. What would you suggest testing for?
  2. A member of our club has been having problems with his birds for sometime now, the birds just dont seem right. He has treated birds for Canker/cocci, have been tested for clamidia negative, the birds have yellow spots/marks on the backs of there tongues, no excess mucus in mouth, once birds are on Doxy they come right, once off they are back down again. The birds seem to fly/range very well around his loft and are keen to get out. His words are "they seems like they have lost there brains", as when he tosses the birds they are usually very very late back to the loft. Stress has been suggested, however once the birds are up on doxy they fly good, cancelling that out in my opinion. Also birds he has bred for other members show none of these symptons in there lofts. Hoping someone has experienced a simiilar problem or know of someone who has and can offer a solution.

    Peanuts

Tried feeding some peanuts to young birds other day, they just pecked at them, didnt eat them, is it best to break them up or crush them for. I'm trying them out as a treat to get birds trapping quicker?
  4. Anyone got any ideas on making training baskets, have seen a couple on old threads, looking to make some myself, i think the hardest part is making them light but still sturdy.
  5. Looking for a copy of LMS pigeon loft management, kind of hard to get in NZ. Have trial version looks ok.
  6. Okay so the youngest ( in days) young birds can safely start training/racing is....? i dont want them to disappear and never see them again. yes they have been ranging from loft. they are approx 58days old now.
  7. Whats the earliest I can start getting young birds ready to race. Been told at 100days you can start tosses?
  8. I see none of these shops sell Bricon gear, does anyone know of one online that does?
  9. Do you get the 2 bird pad with the Speedy pack?
  10. Thanks for the replys. do have a few young late bred birds from this season wil see how they go in old bird series later this year.
  11. How much do you pay for a Bricon Speedy Unit, 2 bird pad, and rings in Uk. Are they cheaper to buy in Belguim. Wil Bricon all bricon units work everywhere in the world.
  12. Have birds with some Kirkpatrick bloodlines can anyone suggest a good strain to put into this family that might produce good birds.
  13. Have recently been offered a share in a Loft, the current owner is very busy with work and doesnt have much time for his birds hence they havnt been raced much, but am told are bred from good lines. Was wondering if it is possible to breed from the birds once ive raced them a few times next season, then pair up the birds that get the best results. I dont really want to breed from unknown pairings. Most people say breed the best from the best.
  14. Thanks for the replys and advice. He also recently got in 2 new young birds from another loft, these birds approx the same age as his young ones are well advanced in the moult, whereas all his young birds are very slow, could this be connected with problem.
  15. Thanks everyone for you input , have purchased some DVDs off the site and got a couple of books from local library, which were old but full of good info.
  16. Hello, A friend of mine recently moved his loft to a new house, before the move his birds performed well and looked great, all birds homed well to new loft location. However since the move the birds have developed a respiratory problem, and once healthy birds now look a little of colour, if he treats them with anti botics the birds come right for 4-5 days then get sick again. The new property has a large swimming pool abbout 10metre from the loft, was wondering if this maybe the cause of the problems, birds have spots in there throats. thanks
  17. Hi All, Looking to get involved in the sport, was wondering are there any good books out there that I can get to start me off in the right direction. Thanks
