  2. gee thanks! sorry - my posts keep coming up twice - i think it is when i refresh the page
  3. we have a cat - the pigeons chase it away
  4. we have a cat - the pigeons chase it away
  5. We have not fed them for about a week now. before we stopped feeding them they would fly away for hours - now they are constantly inthe garden and one looks like it is losing feathers from its neck
  6. (Why did my post come up twice?) anyway - I am not sure what you mean by feral - they are the sort you find around towns
  7. blimy that was a quick reply! we would love to keep them as pets but don't want to keep them cooped up. As soon as the back dooer is opened for the dog in the morning they are in and keep persisting to come in after being shooed out again and again and the mess is terrible. We also don't want any more pigeons around which is what was starting to happen. That is why we thought it best if they could be persuaded to move elswhere
  8. Hello. My name is Shirley. I hope you all don't mind me joning his forum as I am not a "pigeon fancier" I am just hoping that someone might be able to help me with a wild pigeon problem My partner is a builder and in the process of knocking down a building he discovered a pigeon nest. The mother flew away and anyway there was no where safe to put the 2 young ones so he brought them home to me! They were very young - only the early sign of feathers - and I fed them with a syringe and they have survived. They are lovely birds and although we have now set them free they do not want to go away. We love them to bits and they are quite tame - will fly down on our heads and sit with us in the garden. However they also insist on coming into the kitchen and the garden is getting to be a sight with the droppings Besides, it is not exactly hygenic with them constantly sitting on the top of our kitchen cupboards. Then we noticed another pigeon on our roof and have decided enough is enough they will have to go. So we have stopped feeding them hoping they will look for food elsewhere but they haven't gone. Much as we love having them around they really will have to go! Does anyone know of a kinder way we can get them to move on other than starving them? We did try taking them some miles away, but of course they were back before we were!
