  1. so who is complaining not the fancier who didnt vaccinate it was his choice, not me my birds never caught it,all i can say is it worked for me.
  2. no mix up your not listening to what i am saying, out of all his birds only two got into that state he put them down.the point is are pigeons now weaker due to all this treatment, now most birds in loft get in this state.
  3. Wrong, you dont have to treat them with any thing, when i first saw this my mate only had to put two birds down the rest got over it on there own,no hand feeding.this was when it first started maybe these days pigeons are weaker with all this treatment
  4. Well i dont think there is a miracle cure good food a little eletrolyte and rest, then its upto the bird itself some will cope better than others but thats nature better to get rid of the weak early.
  5. no i did not.
  6. how can i be putting any other birds at risk there vaccinated its mine that are at risk because they are not vaccinated but are in contact with carriers thanks to mass vaccination.
  7. My own opinion is that when it first started it should have been left to run its course and that in time the birds would have built up natural immunity,i have seen birds get over it and be ok but this was never allowed to happen.Vaccination was forced upon us for the sake of the poultry trade and as i have stated if it works why are fanciers birds still contracting it.If they are unvaccinated birds than the fancier has no right to complain except that his birds may not have caught it if they had not been forced to come in contact with carriers.
  8. why?
  9. how long ago was what?,last season i flew or my mates birds catching it.
  10. As stated before if vaccinations work why are you bothered about other birds, surly your birds are immune. To vaccinate you are injecting a mild form of the disease into your bird so it is more likely that it is your birds that are infecting the unvaccinated birds.Vaccination was brought in on political grounds as some european countries were refusing to buy uk poultry. One local fanciers birds caught it when it first started and when he reported it no one was even bothered to reply,i think he lost two birds and the rest were ok.Next year he bred me a team of youngsters and they were fine in fact one of my best ever birds i have raced was one of them,so would i vaccinate ? no way and the last season i flew i bred eighteen ybs flew through to yb national and finished with seventeen.
  11. I see a lot of fanciers on here like the Busschaert strain, well these used to be only thought of as sprinters in this country untill the dark ones arrived.Someone on here said that when a pigeon went into Busschaerts loft it was a Busschaert but these never even went into his loft but i will tell you more about that another day.
  12. I visited many top lofts in belgium and most fanciers there used to laugh at us in england with our pure breeds,in Belgium they buy good pigeons irrespective of its strain. One loft i remember was the breeder of Peter pau think he was called something like Guido seyes?,i have handled the sire of PeterPau a small blue cheq that was bought off a club mate for £12.00 he also passed us a dark cheq hen that he had just bought in for £27,000 o fancy strain but a top class pigeon.
  13. Years ago when i was starting in pigeons i thought all distance flyers had a secret method of picking distance pigeons,i would ask many fanciers how to breed a team of distance pigeons. No one was ever able or willing to tell me the answer then one day i met an old fancier called les Tuplin,a very succesfull channel flyer who just said to me "sometimes your best inland bird will breed your best channel bird and your best channel bird will breed your best inland bird.I thanked him for his advice but as i walked away i thought why cant they just tell me the truth, well as the years went by i realised he was telling the truth because no one realy knows.you can find good distance birds in any family you care to name you just have to find them.
  14. hi have just joined today, and have not raced for a few years but find this subject interesting.Does any body mind if i give some of my thoughts and ideas.
