In Egg! (Newbie) (1/8)

  1. I'm not sure his pigeons were based on one particular line, I know he spent hours writing pedigrees for them so you could be right. there was a guy from Lochwinnoch called Rab Jenkins, I'm trying to remember exactly who he was. The name is familiar. my dad was a big fan of the widowhood method I remember that much.
  2. yes I remember Jim and George from Barrhead, both nice people who spent a lot of time with my parents. I didn't know they worked at Rolls Royce, but that kind of makes sense. My grandfather worked there as well at one stage.
  3. I was looking through the forum and saw that a few people remembered my Dad Joe Aikman from Lochwinnoch. Joe was born in Beith in 1944 and initially raced with my grandpa, they became known as Aikman and Aikman before my dad married Catherine McTaggart from Kilbirnie. They moved to Lochwinnoch where my dad became very active in the local club. My mum and dad were great entertainers and I remember many pigeon related club dances, people, races and events. I always thought that most people had family pictures on the walls but we had photos of Pigeons everywhere! My brother Andrew has kept my fathers awards and trophies Someone mentioned in a post that my dad worked in the shipbuilding, actually he didn't he worked for Rolls Royce in Hillington. after redundancy in 1985 the family relocated to East Molesey in Surrey. My dad had a lot of issues finding a place to race as we lived in an Apartment there and I think that's why he wasn't quite as successful racing in England. Dad died in 1993 aged 49 and my mum passed away December 2013. its nice of you all to remember them Joseph
