  1. Just wanted to drop a line to thank everyone for their help. I located the owner and he arranged for a nearby friend of his to collect her. After reading the pigeon in the kitchen thread I'm a bit worried for her safety, but hopefully he'll give her a chance. Thanks again everyone - oh and her poo firmed up!!
  2. Oh I see - I didn't realise owners were obliged to collect their birds by the rules.
  3. I did the classic novice sexing technique............ I took a long hard look and said yes, it definately looks like a girl!!! Thanks for advice regarding the droppings, we have some cider vinegar so I'll do that.
  4. OK honey it is, thank you. Yes, I've left a message with the sec's wife, we're on the Pembrokeshire/ Carmarthenshire border (SW Wales), byt he coast. She's certainly a long way from home.
  5. OK thanks - I don't have wild bird seed, but I'll get some today. Could all the nuts be why she's got runny poo? Her water dish, by chance, is quite deep - certainly deeper than her bill, but I'll get a deeper one in there just in case. I've opened the door of the cage and she's having a wander around the spare room, but I won't let her outside. thanks for the advice!
  6. OK - so I'm getting hooked on this pigeon business!! Anyway Penelope (the recent foundling) has runny poo. I didn't think anything of it until I started reading this forum, but now I know it not good. How long before we know if its just stress or not - she's been with us a day and a half now. She seems much perkier this morning, not as puffed up ( and I thought she was just fat) and we had a little cuddle - aaahhh - so I'm pretty hopeful it is just stress, but I'd be interested to know how long she would take to settle. If she is unwell I'd like to try to get her better you see. Thanks again
  7. Thnak you - I've phoned him this morning, so fingers crossed the owner will want him back. We are a long way away - what happens if the owner doesn't want to travel to collect - Northumberland is a considerable distance from Wales - he'd have to be a very special bird I would think!
  8. OK well he ate about 30 peanuts over two meals yesterday. I've phoned the secretary for NEHU this morning so the wheels are in motion. Thank you everyone for all your help here. He must be a very bored bird, poor thing. Hopefully things will move forward now though. As he's a long way from home what do you guys do? courier them? I was reading that excercise is important for them, should I let him outside? would he come back?
  9. lol lol lol
  10. OK will do- the peanuts are going down a treat however - thank you!
  11. get behind me Satan!
  12. peanuts I have! great! coz the Alpen isn't doing it for him - why didn't I think of that, duh.
  13. Ahh I see - I can feel myself getting too interested here!! A year from now when friends ask ' so how did you get into racing pigeons' and there I'll be 'well I found this bird, got chatting with some people on a forum and well, the rest is history......" lol They are lovely birds though!
  14. OK will try.... just out of interest, what is the NEHU?
