  5. Thanks for that Phil (breaths a sigh of relief) I have placed the bird in a good sized box and made holes in it, seived my parrot food for the small pulses and seeds and also put in a tub of sugary water. He has had something to eat but hasn't gone near the water. Is this ok? (I REALLY don't know anything about pigeon keeping - lol)
  6. Hi I know almost nothing about birds but when I saw this one scrabbling in the back alley, oblivious to the both myself and my dog (as I nearly stood on it), I guessed it was likely to be lost. I kept a check on it for a couple of hours then decided to capture (lots of predators including a park full of sparrowhawks and a street full of cats). It was unable to fly and was losing lots of feathers too. As well as its metal ring it has 2 others on the other leg. A red rubber band and a blue-ish plastic one witha a 6 or 9 on it. I know realise that this probably means it was racing....Should I have left it alone? Hope I did the right thing (found a headless tit yesterday, so I was concerned that the hawks are active at the mo) I have looked closely and it is bald on its back between its wings. I've send a message reporting a captured bird on the SU site, was this the best way to find its owner? Also, I have a parrot......if the lost feathers is caused be illness, could it be passed it on to my parrot? Sorry to bother you and thank you for your time
