  1. I've been putting the food/water in an inherited rabbit hutch - he makes it in there but trying to catch him in it and shut him in there is proving the problem - he's pretty alert so the first sign of me approaching and he's off! Will persist - realise the only way he's gonnae go is if I can get that complete ring number. Will keep trying.
  2. Pete still here. Evading capture. Looks well, eating, drinking and taking off regularly for spins round the block. If I stop feeding will he attempt to go home? Any suggestions welcome. And to earlier question - he ain't coming in the kitchen.
  3. Thanks for the tips. He/she seems to be fairly content to be honest and flies between window ledge and garage roof. I think the elusive letter/s that would indicate the area where it belongs might be hard to spot unless the ring moves, must be right at the back. Feathers are smooth n flat. Hopefully will find home soon. I'll post the progress. Read some of pigeon in my kitchen - oh help I don't have the time for all that I don't think - Peter, I've given him a name, looks very similar to kitchen pigeon. I enjoy birds generally and feed all the usual garden suspects which is why I had some seed. Trying not get hooked - this site is very addictive, until yesterday two rather round, dim looking wood pigeons in the garden was the closest I'd been. Life's full of surprises.
  4. No PMs and yes I have no clue. It's such a lovely bird and to my untrained eye appears in good condition. I'd like to think someone would want it back. It's a bit brighter tonight than it was last night - I've prob missed my chance to pick it up when it seems more alert. Might leave tomorrow and just needed couple of days rest.
  5. Bird still here. I've not handled the bird but just got a good look at the red ring - number SU 07 8822 was all I could make out. Realise there might be a bit missing. Yellow band on other leg looks more like a band than a ring - it has numbers on it too but the band is twisted.
  6. Remember I don't know the jargon - I'd describe as having a dark grey head with lovely green/purple shimmer round neck and light grey stomach and light grey & dark grey wings.

  9. Hi. Not a clue about all the jargon on this forum. Pigeon in my garden for the last few hours, spent the last two hrs on a reasonably sheltered window ledge. Very tame - lets me get within inches so have given water and some bird seed. Should I attempt to put in safer location such as shed. Red band and yellow band on each leg. Have seen walking and must have flown to ledge. What do you suggest. Location - Fife.
