Try hopper feeding pigeon pellets, and hand feed peas when breeding. Works for me. -

Try dipping the pigeon in a bucket of lukewarm water, let it sit on the landing board just before dark. This works for me.

my Janssen based pigeons raced extremley well on a high percentage barley diet, however my Aussie based lines did not.
