JUST HAD NEWS TODAY
fifestay replied to liverpool_boy's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
Children children ...make a point or your point ....Does it always have to resort to personal insults and all the undignified crap. Cant we make the point ..beg to differ etc without the nastiness. Clearly all of us are all party to the going ons so PM each other and give us all a rest before the board goes into free fall ...we were all doing so well there. If it is personal or a grudge use the private message -
I just wonder in the scheme of things how "our" (humans) worth is rated and how many of us would be culled if the same rules applied to humans. From the floor stand up the outstanding amongst us and the rest of us should go in the bin .... Would that be those over 55,? those that cant/wont work? those that earn less than 20K ...those with bad habits i.e. smoke drink?Maybe we should stick them all on a plane to France or Spain drop them off and see who comes home!! :o :o Those of us who aint Linford Christie sebastian Coe or Kelly Holmes ouch ;)

I am also going crackers ....Zimbo, Buster, Ben, Fudge, Toffee and carmel (all mealies) Big Red, Midge, Bullet, Salvy.flichter, Dippy, the Bull, old Cock, 325, Badgy, Angie doo, the strag, and many many more all with a story that makes them different and recognisable
-
you mean Round "o" or roundo like round the houses or the bend eh what
-
No need to apologise westy or snowy ....if you dont ask you dont know
-
I am just scared that in the next life I am the doo and they are the fancier lol
-
Jimmy, Its not that equality centred ....the Doo cant make a decision to suppress the owner ;D ;D ;D I'll bet some doo wished they could
-
Lets face it there are fly or die Guys ..... just ask yourself if you were a Pigeon would you be supressed by now in the scheme of things in life :o I think it depends on whether you are into Birds or into racing at all costs. Why get worked up by adverse publicity ....If Fanciers kill birds you cant hide it .. I personally find it distateful but some do it but we cant speak of it. Open debate ... how many Birds have you suppressed/ killed as opposed to what the Hawks have taken? That is where the raptor argument falls ...its only bad when they take good birds? Yes westy people do kill Birds if they dont think they are good enough and yes it is not pleasant and i know you are quite young ....and people wonder why Young people dont enter the sport
-
Yip Rod adams is realllly funny well i think so
-
No it was a visiting Fed ..but some feds are small and mebbe have older machinery
-
Greengrass i hope he means that too.. dont know if they are better but they certainly have a calming influence in the loft racing is a bit different tho. As you say the Numbers are not there to make a judgement but those women that are involved are very dedicvated as it is a very male (dare is i say chauvinistic at times) dominated sport not all that geared up or welcoming generally for women ...but i think with "new" man this could be changing.
-
This wasn't particularly modern no tractor unit quite small ...not far from you fifer
-
or i must have been unlucky ...dont know what you can do phased lib, bottom up ? is that fair ...especially on short races. Point is that you may have been waiting on those 2 or 3 ...every chance they came from same club or even same fancier. I'll bet some one has devised something
-
:P ;D ;D ;DNot the North Wind but late night opening at the shops ....sure i saw her buying "how to cook easy meals for whinging husbands cook book"
-
These are great but mebbe you wouldn't like a liberation live ..have been to two or three ...and EVERY TIME two or three Birds copped it from the lowest bays on the Transporter i.e. 3, dead 2, dead and one YB 5 dead. One occasion Birds put in Trading estate Bin ...if they were my Birds i would want to know ...but I was only watching from a distance. Even the above shows how far the bottom tier is pushed down in a panic on LIB
-
If she reads this you better hope she doesn't find you ......send out for a Pizza or mebbe even try cooking yourself :o

The following is an extract from RSPB site any prizes for guessing where the Sparrows have gone ...keep recording raptor attacks on their website keep telling them but here is Article RSPB calls for help to find tree sparrows across the South-East The RSPB is asking people who live, work in or visit the countryside to help find one of the South-East's rarest breeding birds, the tree sparrow. The country cousin of the house sparrow, tree sparrows were once widely distributed but have declined by a staggering 95% nationally and have all but disappeared from our countryside. Andy Cotton, RSPB Conservation Officer, explains: 'Small remnants of the population continue to survive in isolated pockets around the South-East. The best-known surviving population is in the area between Romney Marsh in south Kent and Hastings in East Sussex. 'However, the RSPB suspected that small colonies might still exist in out-of-the-way places. An initial plea for sightings last year, largely to farmers, yielded some welcome results, with a small number of new colonies being found across Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. Tree sparrows have declined by a staggering 95% nationally. The best-known surviving population is in the area between Romney Marsh in south Kent and Hastings in East Sussex. To help our search for tree sparrows, please call our Brighton office on 01273 775333. 'It has encouraged us to ask everyone to keep a look out for tree sparrows in the South-East this spring. We are hopeful that there are more tree sparrows out there waiting to be found. By getting a complete picture of where these birds are surviving, we can direct the conservation effort to save them.' Where populations of tree sparrows are reported, the RSPB can offer free advice sheets to landowners. These give details of various low-cost actions that can be taken that are proven to help tree sparrows and other much-declined farmland birds including linnets, yellowhammers and corn buntings. Anybody who would like to help in the search for tree sparrows can call the RSPB in Brighton (01273 775333) for a free identification chart and a form for recording sightings. Tree sparrow sightings can be sent in to the RSPB using the recording form supplied with the free identification chart or by e-mailing details (please include detailed location information a

Electrolytes with extra vitamised glucose and a wee dod of honey ..... experimented once one compartment got water only, the other the above ...difference remarkable. I start this if very hot day but generally a 180 miles plus
-
I use Sand which has been sprayed with Dura mitex and dried out ...I also generally use Tobacco stralks instead of straw. I worry about straw in that it can carry spores ...altho I have noticed you can buy treated straw that is available in Pet shops for hamsters and rabbits ...used some last year and seemed OK
-
But they would have to come and investigate and asses the situation and mebbe have a word with the owner
-
Gez dont know about velocity and speed when they land ...but landing on folks houses ....in Scotland it would be environmental health and they would get a complaint re the mess and or being a pest i.e. ruckety cooing
-
Get Both .... prefer the RP but homing worlsd is OK ....at moment full of ads
-
I note what your saying Tam, and whilst I would agree issues shouldn't be dodged... and debate and differering opinions are healthy. My point was ...last year right about nowish the politics got out of hand in terms of personal remarks, threats both verbal and physical re the situation in Scotland. So i take your point this is a world wide web and most folk dont want to hear the petty name calling going on in "little Scotland" ( Read Gez 's comments about it being boring etc). It was so bad the Webmaster had to lock and remove some of the threads. Now that may be down to some of the contributors ability to debate and negotiate but sadly that is what happened. So my point was lets not get back to this situation. lets talk about the current pigeon issues for Fanciers whererever they fly from FS

Thought that you might be interested in info I received from mark Ruskell ...Info is a bit old now but nevertheless thought you might be interested Thanks for your e-mail about this issue and apologies for the late response. I will bear your comments in mind and have already contacted some organic bodies regarding the issue. The following exchange below through parliamentary questions outlines Scottish Executive thinking... Regards Mark Ruskell Avian Influenza Mr Stewart Maxwell (West of Scotland): To ask the Scottish Executive what studies have been conducted into the economic impact of an outbreak of avian influenza amongst poultry flocks. (S2W-18803) Ross Finnie: There have been no recent outbreaks of avian influenza in the UK and as such no quantified assessments are available. The impact of any outbreak would depend on specific circumstances such as the type of birds infected, their location the scale of any outbreak and its duration. Mr Stewart Maxwell (West of Scotland): To ask the Scottish Executive what plans it has to protect domestic fowl from avian influenza. (S2W-18804) Ross Finnie: Whilst the threat of avian influenza to the UK is judged to be low a number of actions have been taken to protect the Scottish poultry industry. In particular the Scottish Executive has been working with other UK administrations to: Provide stakeholders with biosecurity guidance to minimise the risk of disease incursion, egg through contact with wild birds, and minimise the risk of disease spread; Undertake surveys into the presence of low pathogenic avian influenza in domestic poultry and migrating birds, and Negotiate the terms of the new EU Avian influenza Directive, ensuring it provides an up to date and proportionate base to respond to any outbreak of avian influenza. In addition, well developed contingency plans are held by the State Veterinary Service for responding to any suspect case of avian influenza. It remains important that poultry keepers maintain good biosecurity levels and report any suspicion of disease to the State Veterinary Service Mark Ruskell MSP - Mid Scotland and Fife region Scottish Green Party Environment Speaker Deputy Convenor Environment and Rural Development Committee
