  1. Always wanted to do this since I heard of it's existence , please put me down for one-cheque will be in post tomorrow. Last of big spenders! Thanks.
  2. Ordered annual stock 3wks ago . Big surprise last week, real free delivery-as I checked invoice etc. Thank you Boddy and Ridewood. Anne.
  3. Glad you had the sense to bring your birds back home. Not worth the risk. I can't believe that they said it would be ok. You would want to change your club or suss out someone in the club who is the most experienced fancier with advice and best practise you could follow. Good luck.
  4. SU 08 AF 996 red grizzle This YB is looking to go home. Have reported this to SU on tues, but have not had reply yet.

    nest felts

I have read about washable nest felts. Does any one know where I can buy some. Boddy and Ridewood do not appear to have any.

    mites

or give them garlic in their drinking water. I put 3 segments into a pint of boiling water and give them approx 100mls into their 2pt drinker when changing water daily.
  7. The coxy fraud to me is the deceit that I told you of. I did not mean to imply that you sherlock were involved in this in any way - only that I told you all the details of it.
  8. Well I am still waiting for my birds-----he has had the last laugh for the moment!!!! But you know how the saying goes 'He who laughs last----'
  9. Well sherlock you were in at the start of tjhis deceit. Anything you can do?
  10. How did you manage that as I had complained to coxy and Amtrac prior to your purchase. Are you still willing to take him to court? Otherwise I withdraw my offer as too expensive for one to do. Anne
  11. I was contacted by stoke on trent polis last night and they said you and carol to be sexpectant of 8 today. Lucky you is all I can say.
  12. I have phoned the pc concerned tonight and left a message re his fraud to me. I agree Mickey that I am prepared to take this to court with Duncan and Carol and any others he has cheated.
  13. Shelock-you are not suppossed to mock the inflicted.
  14. I would just like to add that I am still waiting on my birds coxy and of course your reply.
  15. I use Colombine spray - insecticide for from boddy and ridewood for real strays, and occassional spot use for the birds. This deals with feather lice, tail bone lice, fleas, ticks and red mite. Otherwise I use jeyes fluid to the correct concentration for the loft. I always have a mild solution of garlic both in their drinking water and bath water. And get 'ivomectin?' (was a dilution of sheep dip I believe) from the vet 'spot on' treatment annually. So far not had a specific problem with red mites.
  16. I agree with dovescot that we should not let this happen,or coxy away with it. I had decided that being one of his fooled buyers that nothing could be done, but I am happy to also give the police a statement. Some of you may have followed a bit on the threads, but then the post was locked. Very briefly, Amtrak were to pick up 6 white racers on thurs 30/8/07 however when I phoned the Stoke on trent branch that thurs pm they said that coxy had told Amtrk that he thought the birds needed another week in the nest. I tried to stop the cheque that I had sent on the tues 1st class but it was already in his account and could not be stopped. Thought that was safest way to pay as I was suspicious of him by then. I now know pay pal, which I have would have been best. The following thurs arrived 6/9/07 and I phoned again pm only to be told that the birds had not been picked up because Amtrak there did not have any boxes. I went to the local pet shop and bought some and then handed them in around 4pm to kirkaldy branch. They were puzzled and phoned the stoke on trent office only to come off the phone to say they had been picked up. As I had arranged to go into the kirkaldy depot when it opened at 9 on the following day 7/9 -I went home and held my breath. So friday I phoned the depot as they had not called me as arranged only to be told that the order did not exist and there was nothing about the birds!!!! The persons in kirkaldy amtrack to which I spoke was John Kirk (with keys swinging from hip) and Davy Rowbottom the taller guy who phoned amtrack in front of me , and came off the phone saying that the birds had been collected. Talk about getting the run around from crooxy and Amrtak!!!! I am still waiting to hear from Amtrak and although I mailed a copy of letter and enclosed receipt for boxes I had bought, was told by -dont quote me-Gaber Talkfick from Amtrak that the letter may have gone to the depot or other dept. I sent this to head office from which I expect a reply, since they are the managers. I also emailed them a copy last week. So I still await a reply. I have also got a record of all communication between myself and coxy, including a trace on cheque.
  17. Thanks for that tip Philips , will give it a try. And thanks for the laugh Sammy.
  18. Have given a few birds away recently and all happy with good condition. I use garlic in drinking water most days, also in the baths with salt, 2 or 3 x weekly. I use Jeyes fluid ( to recommendations) for a deep clean which gets rid of red spider amongst others, spring and autumn.

    LOFT WANTED

Go on give him a home. We are sorting out our mis-understandings,which have included amtrac.
  20. Out most days if I can be around, and bath available most days.I feed the crows at back garden woods who patrol the territory and alert me to any predators about in their space-cats or hawks. Not 100% failsafe but has worked on many occasion.
  21. Glad you got bird Sapper. And why were they giving you free boxes Jimmy when they had none in the Stoke on Trent depot? I have had to send a letter of complaint to head office and requested refund for the boxes I had to buy and send down, including other deception by them which is being investigated now.
  22. Great charity idea and for highlighting the sport. I would also be interested, as a few local yougsters here could be involved even through their schools.

    Hawks

when I moved to the area over 6 yrs ago,the local cardenden club had cards to mark brief details of such attacks and then send them in. Was that to the rspb? Is there any system of reporting these attacks and someone to collate and give a response to these distraught fanciers.Including myself. Too many have sparrowhawks, buzzards waiting by lofts for their packed lunch being opened. I regularly feed the pair of crows that live in the woods at the back-they have proved invaluable warning me of cats and hawks as either come into their territory.
  24. Nothing too thick that could hide a cat. I'm not an expert but I have tubs of spring bulbs which do a treat in spring, summer I have a variety of mixed tubs again-azelea,rhodedenren,a japanese maple, and one with geraniums and ivy.Never had a problen over the years.Tho i believe ivy is poisonous, but they dont eat it. The doos poos are acidic and so woodland plants may do well as they prefer acidity rather than alkaline conditions. Might check out that safe plant sight myself.
  25. hope your meeting goes well.I have encouraged newbie abqhal to do the same.
