It gives me great pleasure in telling you the members that at the shu council meeting on sunday the 2nd march,Council were very supportive of the ypres memorial race being flown this year and after a letter was read out from the snfc secretary Andy Garven looking for support from the shu on this race. The council gave its backing and gave a donation of £1,000.00 as part of both the council and the snfc committee i am thrilled with this outcome and would like to thank all in council who voted for this very kind gesture.I am sure this was the right thing for the council to approve and it only leaves me to say on behalf of the snfc committee thank you.I hope that we can go on from this and obtain another 2/3 large donations for this cause this in turn would then cover the costs for the expense which we feel will take to run this race.If you can help in any way please contact the snfc secretary on 01236830253 or myself on 01324861009.

can i say that i am only the messenger for the snfc committee.I have given you the pigeon fanciers in Scotland some details of a race from Ypres where the snfc committee will take the responsibility to peice this memorial race together. This race is NOT the snfc it is for the pigeon fanciers who wish to show their respects for our fourfathers who lost their lives in battle and also to show the local people in Ypres that we the Scottish pigeon fancier recognise their efforts and can unit for such an event. We must all work together on this one and where there may be issues hope that the event turns out to be bigger than one or two egos. The snfc committee should be given the time to come up with a strategy for this race which we hope will please all. Please remember that this is not an snfc race but this team of pigeon fanciers in scotland are united in as much as they will take this task on for the benefit of the pigeon members who wish to participate or want to help in one way or another.
I can only give you the feeling from the snfc committee meeting and report the news to you as early as possible.I will not give my views on this or any other site i will only report the facts as they are from the meeting.I will end this post by stating that the people who have taken this on are aware there might be one or two issues which need to be over come but these men are standing up to be counted on this one rather than forget they hope to remember.Hope you can help support.

The SNFC will be taking charge of the memorial race from YPRES IN BELGIUM.The race date is Saturday the 5th July. This race will be open to ALL pigeon fanciers in Scotland as well as being open to any organisations in the uk who would like to be involved in this the 90th year since the war.Ypres was a battle field in the war and where many soldiers lost their lifes.I am sure that we all in the pigeon sport will have had a grandfather, father or other relations who fought in this part of the world or perhaps someone from your local town or village i am sure that we all want to take part in some form or another. The committie of the snfc have taken this on board and are also looking for this race to be sponsored if you know of anyone who would be willing to help in any way then please give our secretary Andy Garven a call on 01236830253.This will also be the date for the SNFCs longest race where we will be racing from TOURS in France the same day as this historic race from Belgium. There will be more information in the fancy press in the coming weeks regarding this event but i would just like at this point to make you the fanciers aware of this event and stress that this YPRES memorial race will be open to all pigeon fanciers.ONE RACE ONE NATION

I take on board the view of WD s point about middle distance races which i feel the snfc give the members but we also must not forget the history of the club has been for 500/600mls for all in scotland .I would like to think that our members all like to try at least one of the 500ml races each year when we can and we must get back to four water races for the members who wish to go to these races as has been in the past. This in turn would give everyone in scotland races via the snfc well worth the £20.00 fee each year.
The races where we make money will offset the races where we loose money but we must also look at going to our further races with our friends south of the boarder where this is possible.
We must all look at what is best for the snfc members and cater for all our members in the best way we can to keep the snfc strong and forward thinking
-
Andy we need to try and help as many people as possible to join the snfc.We no longer have the market to ourselfs and need to try anything that might help people get the bug to go for it and join by being a full member. If in the short term they only go to one race and pay £7.00 then thats a start they may then go for it next year and become a full member.I think this is worth trying to see how it works out.If you have any better ideas then could you please send them in to the snfc secretary where they can be on the agenda for the next agm. That is if you go to the agm .
-
The idea is to get as many people as possible to become members .The £7.00 idea is to try and help get people in with the view that they will become full members.Only time will tell but could all members try and help get more people to join one way or another .This eastbourne race might help people join lets all live in hope.
-
If you want to join the snfc to fly from eastbourne next week then this is ok not a problem all you do is pay £7.00 and you can join for to fly in this race. You can send your money to andy garven and he will send you out the paper work or turn up at a marking station on the night and pay your £7.00 on your sheet and you can race .The marking stations all have sheets that you can use on the night .Hope this helps you and look forward to seeing you at the marking next thursday all the very best in the race.

Eastboune it is for further information a news letter will be sent out today toevery member. You can also log on to the snfc.co.uk for all the information regarding the race. All the very best to all the members who intend sending to this last old bird race of the season.
-
Any one can join our club as long as you fly pigeons in the northwest boundery. That house down the road from me is up for sale if you want to come into the big boys league then come on down.Im sure there will be a lot in the pentland fed who will help you move to falkirk.
I dont need to pull any strings H Menzies is in the west foundery the same as myself but i have to compete with the wise men from the east if i was pulling any strings then i would be in the west section as well.
The jack family is made up of a football team with jacko the goalkeeper rab the star striker and the other nine running around to support jacko.
-
I would hope that all the rules for this race is the same as the last two inland races ie thursday for saturday.Basket times the same as inland races, cost per bird same as inland races number of birds in basket same as inland race the same with the prize money all in all the same as maidstone .This will be confirmed after the meeting on wednesday night and all members will get a letter via the post by the end of this week to inform you of the details for this race.
-
Got it wrong again andy. This is not jacko but his brother who is a member of the avonbridge club.Rab has the best velocity on the day in this race very well done rab.Avonbridge members are getting some very good results at the moment with h menzies winning the snfc maidstone west section.Well done lads keep it up as for you Andy well ive told you before ask me before you put your foot in it again and again you dont want jacko to put his foot on you.
-
Looks like eastbourne or hastings is the front runners for the snfc race in two weeks time. This would be 400mls to falkirk whats the view on this ? The snfc would get the measurements at the snfc cost if the race is from any of the race points which i have given you.
-
The reason for no replacement race was due to only getting told that we could not get into france two hours before due to basket the pigeons. If we went to say maidstone for a race and the bulk of the members were not informed we would be giveing ourself prolbems which we do not need at this point iin time.We would also have people who new that we were only going to maidstone and not tours turn up with birds to go to this race and others around them not informed of any race it has to be the same for all the members and not just the members who happen to find out at short notice. We then would have a problem with transport not able to take all the birds ets.I think the right thing was to cancell the race as was the case i can see the members who were going to tours not happy at not getting the race that was planned but it could be a lot worse than just not getting a race.
I can tell you that it looks like our last old bird race of the season with be inland and we will just have to get on with it the same as all the others in the country.Everyone who looks forward to the water races is fed up at the moment and will all look at what if this and what if that but the truth is this was done with the best intentions for all the birds and the snfc members.I hope you will continue to support the snfc and i look forward to speaking to you at the national marking.
-
It looks like we will all need to have our last race in the snfc from inland race point. We have a meeting on wednesday for the committie to see what we should do.I would like you snfc members to tell me where you would like the last race to be from ie maidstone haistings poole or any other race points you would like me to bring up at the meeting for you to be considered
-
The snfc pigeons due to go to tours for a race on friday has been cancelled. There will be a meeting this week to see what the plan will be for the last snfc race for old birds from france which is due in two weeks time.First we would like to go to france if we cant then next could be belgium if we cant go into europe then we will be looking at race inland from say maidstone or hastings but this will all be talked about by the snfc officials at the meeting. All snfc members will be sent out a newsletter to update you all of the outcome of the meeting. It is hoped that we will have a snfc race on friday or saturday 20/21 july as per your snfc book.
Lets all hope things get better by then.
-
Sorry i also would have to add j king and b kinnear to the above list along with another 5/6 fanciers.Fife must have the best group of 500mile fanciers in the country at the moment
-
Well done to j.procter a very good pigeon and a first class fancier.
I am sure most will agree when i say that fife has some top class fanciers when it comes to the national races from the water at the moment Benvie,Procter,Downie,Dall,Donnachie,Peggies,Gilmours.Keep it up lads and lets hope we see more fife lads get up there with them in the next couple of water races.Well done to you all and your pigeons.
-
Have you been given mr bremner some of the tips i give you or is it something else ?
-
Very well done to jim benvie and his pigeon.I would also like to say well done to everyone who timed in from this race.Lets hope that the weather gets better for all who race pigeons in scotland for the rest of the season.
We all set our pigeons up for the big races at this time of the year and this year the weather has let us all down week after week.Lets hope as it gets into July and the moon changes the weather also changes for the better.
Once again well done to JIM BENVIE and his pigeon.
-
Andy your four cocks wont want to come back from france. They wont need a passport to come home.I told you to send hens they are more loyal than cocks you should be aware of that.
-
I have sent seven to the gold cup.The total is around 1540 birds.Boness is up bruno with 177 birds going from the boness station.Edinburgh up around 440 birds the south is up also the west of scotland is up aberdeen and dundee round the same as last year. The one that is down is fife they are down around about 120 birds.
The birds are at the port ready to go on the ferry at 8.45am this will get them to alencon around 5/6pm today plenty of time before they get liberated on friday all being well. This shows that we can miss out a day and still have plenty of time for the birds to be ready before they are let off.
All the very best to everyone who is at the race.Lets hope we get a good one.
