In Egg! (Newbie)

In Egg! (Newbie) (1/8)

  1. Thank you very much for your replies. It's been really great watching them grow up, we where really exited when we saw another egg and it actually hatched! We put a water bath out for them in the really hot weather and it was so cool when we saw one of the babies washing off in it! A couple of questions: 1. How will we know when the youngsters are old enough to leave? 2. If they've laid more eggs and we remove them with the nest, where should we put them? Will they just take them to a new nest? Andy.
  2. Hi There, I'm afraid I don't know anything about pigeons. I hope I'm posting in the right place, apologies if not. A few months ago a pair of pigeons nested and laid an egg on our balcony, on their third attempt it hatched! We've been watching him/her grow up for a few weeks now. Going from a little ball of fluff to a pigeon that's just starting to fly. For the time that they've been here, we've not used the balcony so we don't disturb them. As much as we've enjoyed having them stay, we would like to reclaim our balcony when they leave, but we want to make sure we don't cause them any problems or stress. Do pigeons return to the same place every year? If we block it off, will they just look elsewhere, or will it upset them? How long should we leave it before blocking it off? Any other advice you can give? Thanks, Andy.
