not meaning to be cheeky tyson but try doing an hours workout and then come home and drink a glass of epsom salts youself and see if it does you any good .then you can give your pigeons some after you have found out the results .

The last thing a bird needs after a race is wet droppings

dr colin walker advises against these type of salts, wouldnt be my cuppa tea, but i am of the understanding that if ye give these salts it flushes the bird out(anything they may have picked up in the basket) then they need to be re-hyrated as soon as possible, not 100% sure this is just my understanding

Have just posted something similar on 'entrebiotic' thread: bird is already overloaded with salt after a race, and needs water, not more salt.

have read somewhere myself that birds dont need more salts after a race as their salt levels are already too high  and only need clean water?   there seems to be a lot of disagreement on this matter :-/  what do u all think?  debbie

I am not sure whether the birds benefit from the salt or not but Epsom salts are Magnesium Sulphate. As far as I am aware Magnesium can be beneficial in muscle formation.

i wouldnt use ebsom  salts for pigeons, especialy after a race , i would much rather use something to firm up their droppings than make it worse
