They are truly lovely birds but they look so much like pets rather than racers (maybe I'm wrong) what I love is how tame they are !!! our last years young birds are so tame , I (wrongly or rightly) feel confidence in them , there is especially a young red cock who jumps up and tries to peck my fingers and drives around the box when I back off . does anyone have /had similar with decent results ?
last year old fella made a model small bird and used feathers stuck to it. He wired it on a cane to side of fence laced with fishing gut and 4 trebles around its back, and chest. May not be in the best poss taste but you get to this point after a while.......... The sparrow hawk took it after about 2 weeks. Never heard how it found it on its palate but hope it enjoyed every bit
Really feel for you . I lost best Lurcher I ever had chessing a rabbit, ran onto Railway at dusk , cried me eyes oot. Time heals and another pup will really help, although you wont see it like that yet. Sad news
It was mentioned on this site about 3 days ago . 1 spoon salt mixed with 1 spoon lard rubbed into brest bone and back of neck (to parts pigeon cant reach with beak I presume) I dont think the BOP'S find it at all tasty . Someone on here will probably explain better
Bad news that mate ! Nowt worse than being hit by those things. I was thinking of trying the "salt and lard" mixture that was mentioned on here a few days ago . Thought if I bred 5 0r 6 late breds(no rings) and flew them out all winter wi salt n lard then there would be a good chance of them being taken . If plenty of other fanciers did the same then surely it would have an effect
We get that most years and my old fella locks the one being ousted in the box and when he's calm holds the cock thats doing the fighting/bullying in front of the weaker cock (at a lower height) and lets the weaker one peck him a while , always sorts the bully out !!!! Never fails .
Cheers to you all . When I replied initially , it appeared on screen but then disappeared? I have had to leave the site for a while and then come back on. (dizzy)(dizzy)(dizzy)
