Two really good birds up in forfar for kenny droog, against the wind, well done kenny
  2. This is a good offer and should be considered very carefully by both management committees, both clubs are making losses from these longer races and if they don't take this opportunity to discuss Mr Hendry's proposition and allow him to expand on his offer then I would consider that they are failing in their obligations to their membership, they are quick every year to ask for donations to fundraisers, sales etc in order to raise additional funds to help with balance sheet, yet with each year costs of birdage tends to be looked at with increases now becoming commonplace. We all know membership is decreasing rapidly and any savings which can be accumulated should be considered very seriously, If this is a genuine offer then I am quite sure that through further discussion all parties could come to a sensible solution to perhaps further improve our great hobby.
  3. who cares when the rings are issued? The youngsters can't be raced until Y/b season, breed at this time of year and most people wont be able to let them out early doors due to hawk problem or bad weather for next few months. some believe youngsters need educated during the learning stage of 3-4 month of age. Others think differently, Where is the advantage in having a team of youngsters sitting in the loft for an extra few months. However this is a hobby and if someone gets his fun from breeding and rearing etc, where's the harm. too many nitpickers and as geordie 123 says it will still be same names at the top of the sheet regardless.
  4. It's most likely just stress, some individual pigeons can be like this, usually when separated in the winter period. Check their crops 15 minutes after feeding and they will be full of water, the bird becomes slightly dehydrated after passing all this fluid and the cycle continues, as I previously advised giving clay pickstones will help as the salt levels in the body will be replenished and the clay content helps the detox process also helps the gut fight against coli/salmonella, also contains certain beneficial minerals, above all the birds love it. Carob powder as I also suggested is used to help bowel problems diarrhea etc, you might think this wont work because it is to simple a remedy, but don't be too quick to rush to the medicine cabinet just try it.
  5. I would try the pickstones for a couple of days and send for some Carob powder, put this over food and should cure the problem within a few days.
  6. I'll sort him out with some youngsters to get him started if he wants.
  7. pigeon racing is never fair due to location, most probably why I don't set a clock for club races, however once the national races come around the distance element comes in, and better performances begin to count, due to weather conditions the race may not suit your area, however if you can have the best performance in your region, then that should be your goal, if by chance you get a good open position happy days.
