  3. Well done Wullie McKie If we had been fed members you would have finished 14th flying more than double the distance on some of the members in front of you and into a head wind. Well Done
  4. I dont want to turn this post into a debate about when rings can be issued. I simply wanted advice about pairing up early on the natural system as the advice i get from locals is do not do it. They cannot give me a reason for it but i think they have done it that way all there lives and do not like the idea of change or doing something different.
  5. I cannot pair up as early as 22nd November. If my maths are right that would be to early as we dont get rings until the start of January
  6. Any advice on both old birds and young birds please
  7. I have only been in pigeons for 3 years. The coming season will be my 4th. I normally pair up mid February but was looking at possibly breeding earlier this year to give older and hopefully stronger young birds. I fly on the natural system. What are the Pro's and Cons. Any advice welcome
  8. As Andy said it is our first year on the North road. It was a tough one but we got 5 out of 8. This year is all about returns. Good times are a bonus. Bring on Montrose
  9. The SW bird will be a Lochryan bird B Chalmers 01776 706053

    Choose An Area

A one loft race in the Stranraer area as it is one of the hardest place to fly into with the dog leg at Carlisle and the BOP Would also be interesting to see if returns were better than local returns

I understand where you are coming from. We have members down here who think the ETS clocks them in as long as they are within a 20 mile radius

I am sure there is a solution to make it easier. How about an ID number then when it enters the loft. You then text the a number and the ID number and it then contacts the owner with a text message but doesnt send the message for 48hrs. That would stop cheating.

As i was cleaning out the doos today i had a light bulb moment. I have a Unikon ETS system and have had a few strays in this year that i have reported one way or another. Would it not be great if when a stray enters the loft with an ETS ring on it told you who it belonged to and a telephone number. After all this piece of equipment is 21st century technology. Surely it would make more sense than having to report a bird on here, SHU or The Reddings. Also while i am on the technology thing it would be great if we had some sort of GPS system built into the rings that way we could track our birds and possible work out why we lose them or where they go. I am not sure what the cost would be for this but i know that mobile phones have this piece of equipment in them and you can get an app and track your phone if it gets lost. Why cant we do the same with our birds?
