  1. anyone got any feeding info on the vanrobaeys corn? there seems to be aload of corns but no suggestions to what to feed where
  2. our first old bird race is in 9 days, my pigeons have been out flying for about a week now after been locked up for the winter, i plan on getting a few training chucks in to them over the next few days, first race is 50 miles, will they be fit enough by then or am i best off missing the first one?
  3. Used lights for a week, lights on until 6pm to make the day a little longer
  4. started out flying last year, done well with youngbirds that i was gifted and bought in etc, now the time has came to pair up for this seasons young, i put them together about 10 days ago, they didnt show any interest so after 3 days i seperated them all, fed them abit less and put hempseed oil on the corn (was told it will hot them up abit and make them more active) I put them back together today, cocks all going mental, but hens still dont seem like they are bothered. am i missing something? should i be locking them in boxes ? its the 1st time ive had to pair up and breed all my own young birds so not really very clued up on this! its really cold here at the minute as well (1-2c) would this effect it?
  5. clocked 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th club 11th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th 26th and 28th fed, quite happy with that for my 1st ever combine national race!
  6. final young bird national race is at the weekend, what would you do to prepare for that? they have been coming pretty well all season usually 3rd or 4th club.. what can I do this week to up their game a little bit? i still take them down the road 25 miles twice a week, should i do that again this week? also corn wise, they have been getting gerry plus all week, with some champion plus on thursday night... should this be changed abit for the distance?

came in yesterday starving, had a good feed etc.. any takers?
  8. new fascias tapped in to the mains and give my self a water supply! getting rid of all the crap! Aivery new traps for ETS - not quite finished.. and finally some of my ybs venturing out for the 1st time today... ive done some work inside as well but no pics, it still needs some work, but i hope you all agree its a hell of a lot tidier than it was! in the 1st post i done
  9. the roofs been recently done in some sort of corrugated stuff, but its been put on over old original felt, its bone dry in side and no signs of rot on the actual loft its self, should be good with abit of tlc it was an opportunity not to be missed really as it came with the plot of land, people wait years to get a plot round here
  10. i built my 1st loft last year in may, got a few youngsters and started getting the hang of things, but then ended up having to get rid of my loft and pigeons (house was rented and landlord was selling up) any way we have now bought a house, the garden needs alot of work before a loft can be built but ive been measuring and planning etc, then a loft and plot came up for sale down the allotments so ive bought that instead! it needs painting and the platform/walkway in front of it needs re building as its rotten and collapsing, theres plenty of space infront of it and scope to extend if need be.. just wondering what you would do to it and what alterations you would make ready for ETS? i plan on building at least 1 aviary for the young bird section.. it looks very tatty at the minute but its solid and should look quite smart once ive done some work on it!
  11. me and my wife have had a baby as well as moving house (been a busy few months!) our daughter is now 5 months old. some 1 who speaks to my wife and her parents (apparently used to keep pigeons) is telling the mrs that its a bad idea starting back up with the pigeons with a baby around, i said its fine but they insist even washing hands after been with the pigeons is dangerous and that i should think twice before getting them back! this is making the wife question things and putting her off the idea!! is he right in what hes saying or is it aload of rubbish? ive only had pigeons for about 6 months but in that time i had them i had no problems, kept them clean daily etc didnt think anything of them been "dirty" to be honest..
  12. how many would each section house ?
  13. was wanting to race roundabout and youngbirds
  14. i built my self a fairly small L Shaped loft last year and started up racing in the youngbird season (some of you might remember me) anyway, the house was a rented house and we were planning on buying our own house eventually.. anyway we ended up buying a house alot sooner than i thought so i had to pack up and sell the loft. im wanting to build a new loft this year, but the garden is quite small, im going to be limited to about 18 foot, i can prob go to 8 foot wide or so i was thinking of doing 3 6ftx8ft sections, do you think this could be abit small or would i get away with it? how many pigeons would i be comfortable with in a 6ftx8ft section?
  15. just wondering are 50cm next boxes adequate or abit on the small side? found a website selling german box fronts that are 50cm x 32cm, was considering these if the size is ok
