try feeding 50% barley/depurative & 50% normal feed.... if you notice in the young bird season some youngsters have got blue/grey tongues due to feeding a heavy protein mix but when you lighten the feed up they excersise much better getting fitter and in doing so the blue/grey tongue goes away(ie they are carrying internal fat) this also happens in older birds...my thoughts only...
I know what you are going through mate, when we started back up again in 2000 we borrowed a good pair of joe shore based stock birds, the little b*****d killed the cock plus 5 latebreds i had gifted to me.. I blame the little b*****d for my dads heart problems.. keep your chin up and don't pack the birds in you'd miss them
going back to the sex indicators if you see any at any of the shows ignore them they are expensive for what they are.... a .22 pellet with a piece of cotton tied onto them... got suckered 5yrs back and never forgot it
i had 6 jan aardens brought for me as a birthday present in 2006 got 1 left she had

3x1st as a yearling
2x1st as a 2yr old plus the 2nds, 3rds and 4ths aswell
a young hen has won out of her this year.........
6 for 99 quid, can't be bad
the same as anywhere there's good pigeons and bad ones just got to try and find the good ones
hi all,
during this stressfull time of the year which do you members find is the best feeding method
hopper feeding 24/7 or a measured feed (if measured approx how much per bird)
if i remember rightly it's got garlic, onions and iodine in, if it's the same one the birds came up a treat, it was just too much hassle to make though..Andre van der weil does something simalar but without the iodine in....
In belgium/holland they used to cross the van loons into the birds of albert van de flaes, the van de flaes pigeons were mostly reds the base of these were direct jansens...Could be the same lines???
