andy Burgess Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 any site members ready for the new season ? those who train , have you done much ? we are a little behind due to my health , yet hope to make the first race (maybe)
Kyleakin Lofts Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Far to early for me to even consider racing at this time. The pigeons are not even loft fit and this current weather doesn't help matters. Luckily my season doesn't start until May, so I've plenty time yet. The hawks should be on the nest by the time I start training, loft fitness, well that may be a different matter.
greenbar Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Nae where near it.Andy.hawks weather nightmare.
geordie1234 Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Absolutely no where near it....with the loft move 2 miles and breaking the pigeons well behind this year...so won't be at the first races... I don't think
ALF Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Most of the birds are on big ybs just now only been out 2 or 3 times this year but they will be ready for the 1st race they won't all be going but will be ready for racing...
dal2 Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Stock loft shut and on perches, cocks and hens doing 45mins twice a day....race mix fed next week.....46 ybs flitting around the loft....bring it on
bigbill Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 just moving hens away from cocks, hope you are felling better Andy,
Dmurray Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 No where near it plus it's like the artic out there defo no the weather to be even thinking about racing
paddymac Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 any site members ready for the new season ? those who train , have you done much ? we are a little behind due to my health , yet hope to make the first race (maybe) Birds out for the first time today, so a few weeks off yet until they start training.
ally mac Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 All ready and cant wait to get going. Cocks and hens all homed to new loft, both doing just over an hour around the loft, cocks twice a day, and trapping great. Not going to go overboard with training this year, few from 8 mile then few from 20 mile and that will do them. Think I would rather give them a chance in race basket rather than the training basket.
Walter swanston Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Training?? Positively Baltic outside rain, sleet and flakes of snow. Nowhere near ready for 15th. April
greenlands Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Well behind this season, seem to have spent most of my time at doctors or hospital,(been there most of today),managed to get young birds moved off the race birds, but old birds not parted yet, would usually have had four or five tosses by now, have had none, snowed on and off most of today and seriously cold, wind now in the NE so we are in for a week or so of cold air.The seasons have changed compared to years ago and racing starts at least three week too soon. But who am I ?
tiger Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Naw just started getting them out on Monday night
REDCHEQHEN Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 Great weather last week for training - when we weren't ready - bloody freezing this week now that we are! We have the opportunity of an open race on Saturday 1st - with the first race proper the following week - 8th April The cocks look fab - the hens are still sulking

yeboah Posted March 22, 2017 Report Posted March 22, 2017 The sleet and wind factor today would have taken the face of an Eskimo never mind a wee dooAgree with Lindsay the seasons have changed ,but we still pack in three races in April Sure the race controllers convoyers etc will be the scape goats Nothing to do with snow covered hills and air temp early mornings struggling in single figures Some People refer to us as pigeon fanciers Still expect to take the first ten as their bouncing

Tony C Posted March 23, 2017 Report Posted March 23, 2017 A dozen hens ready to be trained, cocks another week of loft flying before they're ready. Might keep my powder dry for a week or so with the current flow of n/e winds. We start on the 8th April.
fred x Posted March 23, 2017 Report Posted March 23, 2017 My Baby's are just coming out of the nest there parents making them come off the nest to be feed, as the hens are about to lay there 2nd round of eggs, once the hens have layed I will take the hens away & let the cocks finish feeding them. Our 1st Fed race is the 15th April But I started training lasts week when we had 4 good weather days, We are plagued by Peregrines & Sparrow hawks here on the south coast. I have only to race 7 of them are spare hens, I will race Cocks & Hens. I will send all hens to the 1st club race. Well that's my plan.
greenlands Posted March 23, 2017 Report Posted March 23, 2017 First toss in this afternoon,my mate said there was about another ten with them but broke away when my dropped in.Half happy see what tomorrow brings.
alex young Posted March 23, 2017 Report Posted March 23, 2017 Never reared anything this year just let them sit pot eggs for 21 days. They've been split about 10 days now and are flying really well around home so hopefully after a couple of short tosses they'll be ready.
