A poem about Easthouses in the twenties

The gates,the lodge,Auld Jonnie noon,
The pigeon raw,an bottom o,the toon

The skull gates Miss Mackenzie,I,all write it a doon

The Wilson's,the Walkers, and the Lessons too,
Intae the close were the Lilly,s were few,
Ye then crossed the street and intae
Where dwelt the Burnetts,Borthwicks,

The Knights underneath and a lot up the stair,
The Allan's, Bess Kerr wi, the twins tae ensnare

The backside where privates gave the place its
queer name
Many lids they were banged to the lads blushing

Where many an innocent still knew who to blame,

Were some o, the yins that kept doos,
The doomen were usually pally,
Till Rennes was the race in the news,
The doofolk were gethered at doocots,
With, loud shaking tins in their hands,
A prize was in mind an action an, thoughts,
If only that pigeon aid land.
Presiouse minutes were sweatenly passing,
As roon and aroon, they did wheel,
Keen to tae come in for a ration,
O,peas doos milk and oetmeal.

Gubbie and Nell were next in the
Passed Jim Allan wi, lassies twa
Then on to auld May wi, three sons
Sae braw,
Alas,it greives me tae tell ye,
Big Will is the yinthats away,

The strike it was over the men

They then dug a haulage through
The auld lilly park,

They closed roon the vexom an,
Bryan's pit braw,

They built oversman hooses and
Can,ed roon pigeon raw,

The last yin ti fa, was old Davie

Well known in the region as the ,

In the hale o, the village he be,er
Had for,
He thought us ti sing a well worded

And so we will recite in his fond

Eight hoors work and eight hoors
