the Pilgrims new it was happy days for them, when it was posted as a £3,000 prize money race,  they had the birds that could do the race, plus made it a duplication at the same time couldn't fail,  as prize money goes  with 400 birds  entered  that was never going to recoup the loss.  :o

but it seems Lanarkshire is not learning from past experiences as far as fiances are concerned. Also a major hike in dues.Think there are more attractive propositions for the more discerning fancier. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Individual clubs put in for a grant for a double issue of crates each is a way around it. Fed buys the transporter clubs buy the crates.

Danny weve been here before, even if we had gone on our own we would still have had an outlay of £3000 prize money, plus convoying costs etc etc, with an entry of only 400 birds or loss would have been even greater. To cover the cost of going alone and the 3k prize money the birdage would have to been somewhere in the region of £10 per bird which is ridiculous.I keep hearing about this £3K loss which is correct, but if we had not gone with the SNFC this loss could have almost doubled, or am i missing something.

it was bad management to offer £3,000 for the  race the problem should have  been corrected  before  as there would always be  no more than 500 doos away to that race, going with the national  to a extent ok   but remember  if the lanarkshire had gone on its own at £22-28 per basket as was charged  by the national  that would  made the picture different also

Danny lets say we went alone at £28 per basket, with say 25 birds in each basket and 400 birds entered. That equates to to 16 baskets x £28 = Total income of

£ 448 to cover £3k prize money plus haulage, convoyers etc, etc, the figures dont add up and as i said earlier the loss to the fed would have been far greater than this £3k that is being touted.

now to add to that if we had  3 transporters  and made £4,200x 3 =  Â£12,600 for the feds coffer per year  and ferrying more feds doos

Davie the two problems  that turned up out of the race was the prize money     thats gone now and lost,  the members  never felt that £25-28 per basket was  a problem,  but its only seem a problem when the  lanarkshire ask for the same kind of money to go distance racing  on there own  now i know  and you know also the national looks after there  organizers  see them all right with a few bob on race marking  night  they also  pay basket men  we had our own baskets  on the first race with the national those baskets where all cleaned and  sprayed  for the said race by the clubs that held marking now we where charged  Â£40 for cleaning  they where our own baskets  and should have had  a hiring fee to compensate for that  and a hall let charge

Danny, i agree that the SNFC should have paid a hirers fee for the use of the Fed baskets. Going back to the figures earlier, even if the Fed paid out no prize money, the income would have still only only been £448  at £28 per basket with only 400 birds entered a massive loss would still have been realised, think about the costs of going alone, convoyers wages, feeding, haulage, ferry crossings etc, etc, we were lucky to get away with a £3K loss.

yes   thats the sad thing about the doo game  not enough  doos to go to the distance racing  but you  have the  members to make it pay having the distance races 1,000 members  with the potential of all sending  4 birds each  giving you a min of 4,000 birds

but we in the lanarkshire have other problems  as we have  150 -180  national men in our fed  wanting  more hours on the wing  and restricting the fed as they Will use us as   training

where at some of the  races we go to  they only send the  odd  6 to get the  hours on the wing to then go with the national   and most of the delegates are Nat minded and keep pushing for the distance  as its cheap  training  if they go with the national is a £1 per bird min against  35p in the club per bird  so there eyes are fixed only on the national  don't  have a problem with that   but  if we come to the vote for fed improvements we are shot down with the pilgrims

Jim had his reasons and if it happens again and he is in the same predicament he will throw in the towel again.Good luck to him 2010 he will certainly need all the support he can get. ;)
