Guest stb- Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 the pleasure they give you when they are racing about the skyes for starters, forgett the comercial side to start with and the winning races, just enjoy them for what they are . nothing nicer than watching a team of pigeons touring the heavens on a nice summers day
dwh Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 the crak down the club ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

lithgilad Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 theres no better a feeling than watching your birds trap on a race day win or lose but knowing you bred and trained it without spending silly money and when you do beat the money bags in the sport oh what a feeling ;D
Guest spin cycle Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 it's a fascinating hobby. the pleasure of watching the birds when they're fit and happy. the trepidation when you send them coupled to the thrill of seeing them 'fold' in home..actually its a bit addictive when you start its any race but as you go on you want longer and longer 'tests'.
Guest bakes Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 for me as ive not raced yet my season kicks off oldbird 2010 but the buzz i get when my birds are taken training the basketing of the birds the banter i have with my neighbours they always say who you think will be first back as soon as my mate libbs then he gives me a bell lets me no wind weather like on libs site then i look at my watch and remember the time then work out in my head what they would of been doing in velocity ypm and so on im looky my neighbour enjoys my birds and they already said they be out in the garden watching them come back from the races they have everytime ive had them training been out watching them come back as the younglad next door to me got a few favourites he likes of my birds he comes round and see's my birds and always says thats the one that will be first back i always say to him if he is i give you a £5er he's been right the last 5 times ;D bless him for me the sport of pigeon racing is like anythink you get out off it what you wont if you wont big wins you need to put the time and effort in if you enjoy your birds like me and my girlfriend does im happy to get them back on the day anythink else is a bonus i be happy with a few club and the odd fed result. all the best k.baker
Guest Owen Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 When I first saw a pigeon in about 1952, I fell in love with the bird. I do not know why, but they have facinated me ever since.
mark croker Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Everthing is great in this great sport of ours, i love when paired and the birds are clapping up and down, chasing each other up and down the roof,, Young birds learning to fly And i dont need to say, but , race day, when you see the wings lock and they drop like a stone, Happy times,
mark croker Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Racing them down the motoway, i can see them all the way some days, its a perfect line home, i never win like ;D

Agree, and I will state that err, um.... er.... Well I love to see them fly around the houses. Picking up in the garden. The raising of young etc. And every so oftenhave a good loft visit..... Then of course there are some races which we can enjoy... Well nice to see the birds home in god fettle.
DOVEScot Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I am looking forward to new challenges and ventures but I doubt I would stick at it solely for that. Personally I enjoy the friendships made and the banter within other wise I would find it too boring. Chickadee loves her birds but that brings it's own problem as she is not looking forward to the racing due to the fact she may lose some. Hopefully we might strike a balance or no doubt she will win and we will end up with another 200 ;D ;D ;D
blaz Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 the good felling you get when you get your 1st bird from a hard race.also the grate felling you get when you get the last bird you sent to a hard race.all home safe and sound
Jacobasmith Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I am only just new to the sport, but already i have felt the sensation of "looking after" and caring for a animal that somehow seems to find its way home from miles and miles away. absalutely amazing.
Guest frank dooman Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 just the thought of knowing that you bred that bird and all the other stuff that goes along with either winning or just getting the bird back makes all the hard work worth while
alec guinness Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 one good thing about pigeons. nothing like waiting on a saturday for the doos coming from a race even better if they are coming from a national, nice day maybe may/june/july,at the smallholding waiting with ma dad, my mum making the dinner, with a wee bit luck maybe a good timer from the national, off with the clock then a few magners and ice up the bowling club with the wife,up early sunday morning get the doos cleaned, just one wee thing i love about my doos so many more reasons. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
fits Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 The anticipation whilst waiting for your birds to come home from the race and watching the flocks from other groups going over and also trying to spot one of yours as early as possible. It’s just magic.
Guest Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 any more comment or veiws appreciated. andy.
