demolition man
With hopper feeding do you not find pigeon's are like kids they only eat the sweets?
andy Burgess
think I would cry into my cuppa tea Bernie, feeling little hope of winning regularly .if you chose to set a hopper up early barley ,mid Gerry plus ,longer Gerry plus and some peas or beans .still find a 2 time regular visit to the loft where you can exercise them and trap with seed ,no flying on the days your not there .feel you would be in a position to send , not be too far away then at least . good luck whatever you decide
Wiley
With hopper feeding do you not find pigeon's are like kids they only eat the sweets? Looking at your shifts Bernie, and knowing your love for the distance, I would say you'd have to feed similar to what I mentioned at Blackpool how many of the miners fed many years ago, hopper feed beans and barley. I would still feed offer them another type of grain during the periods you are available at the lofts. Look into the experiment or have a chat with Tony C, he experimented with a team on naturals on beans one year, and if memory serves me right he was 2nd Open Thurso LNRC. peter pandy
Hopper feed either Beans or Peas and every time you enter the loft throw down a mixture of Maize & Peanuts. Done it for years with decent results from all distances.
walterboswell59
one hopper beans one hopper maize and redband each time you go to the loft they will not eat barley if there is anything else on offer i found

seabreeze
hopper feed probably a belgium widowhood mix,let them throw it everywere if they want but dont refill till last grain is cleared up,if you have a floordressing down the wasted food should stay clean, ive fed this way for 20 years and it works a treat, when they get used to this method of feeding they no longer throw the food about,if you think there getting heavy half barley mix or when channel comes a half bean mix, really you have no option but to hopper feed working them hours and work comes first, try it stick with it you will perfect it given time, good luck. Tony C
I would be tempted to feed an ounce per pigeon in a trough after exercise then 30 mins later feed a tablespoon of 50% barley 50% condition seed in their boxes, leave this mixture in their pots till the following days exercise when you can tip any excess away. (I'm taking it you exercise them once a day)
